Ron Paul Supporters Threaten To Throw Rudy Giuliani Off Ferry

Ron Paul Supporters Go Nuts; Taunt Giuliani On Ferry

Crossposted from Stop The ACLU

Texas congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul does not believe that 9/11 was an “inside job” and his campaign distanced itself from a raucous pro-Paul demonstration on a Mackinac Island ferry Friday night, a Paul spokesman said Monday.YEAH RIGHT!

In the incident, Paul’s supporters taunted former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for alleged complicity in the attacks.

Spokesman Jesse Benton said the campaign was aware of Internet reports about the demonstration, which occurred late Friday when Giuliani boarded a ferry loaded with Paul supporters leaving a Michigan GOP conference. No Paul campaign officials were involved, Benton said.

According to one eyewitness, Giuliani was beset by dozens of Paul enthusiasts as he was leaving the island, some of whom shouted taunts about 9/11, including: “9/11 was an inside job” and “Rudy, Rudy, what did you do with the gold?” — an apparent reference to rumors about $200 million in gold alleged to have disappeared in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.

Ed Wyszynski, a longtime party activist from Eagle, said the Paul supporters threatened to throw Giuliani overboard and harrassed him as he took shelter in the ferry’s pilothouse for the 15-minute journey back to Mackinaw City.

“It was awful,” said Wyszynski, who supports Mitt Romney for the GOP presidential nomination.

“I was embarrassed to be a Republican. Never, ever, have I seen such a disgraceful performance.”

Its pretty bad when you have to distance yourself from your own supporters. I know that not all Ron Paul supporters are conspiracy theory nuts, YEAH RIGHT! but these clowns are the ones taking the headlines. They should be ashamed. They are only hurting the very candidate they claim to support. Below is a blurry video of the incident mentioned above.

Troops Furious With Hillary And Democrats

Rep. Peter King: Troops Furious at Hillary Over MoveOn Ad

American troops in Iraq are in a “rage” over Hillary Clinton and other Democrats’ failure to condemn the MoveOn.org ad calling General David Petraeus “General Betray Us.”

That’s the word from Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican who recently returned from a fact-finding trip to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In an interview with talk radio host Steve Malzberg, King said what struck him most about the troops in Iraq was how closely they are following politics in the U.S., and how angry they are over the Democrats’ reaction to the MoveOn.org ad.

King said he had lunch with several female soldiers at a base in Iraq and they were “furious at the Democrats for not denouncing the ad and for what was said about General Petraeus.

“This has been noticed by the troops,” King told Malzberg.

“They specifically mentioned Hillary Clinton, being angry at her, and the Democrats in general for not denouncing MoveOn.org. It went beyond a political anger — it was a rage.”

The MoveOn.org ad — which appeared in the New York Times — charged Petraeus with “cooking the books for the White House” when he delivered his Iraq report on Sept. 10.

“To imply that Petraeus is a liar — MoveOn called him a traitor!” said King. “I was struck by the intensity of the anger from these people.”

King said some of the soldiers who had previously supported Clinton’s presidential bid no longer did.

Hat Tip To Mike's America For This Photo

King also criticized New York Sen. Charles Schumer, who said that the level of violence in Iraq’s Anbar province was down “despite the ‘surge,’ not because of it.” He suggested that the American troops couldn’t “get the job done,” so tribal leaders took up the fight against the insurgents themselves.

Schumer is “totally wrong,” King declared.

He said the tribes took action to fight the insurgents only after they saw the U.S. step up efforts in Anbar.

MOVE ON.ORG AND NEW YORK TIMES SLAPPED WITH FEDERAL LAWSUIT!!

The ACU files an FEC complaint against MoveOn.org and the NYT

Crossposted From RedState:

I don't know that this has hit the pop media as yet, but a press release tells me that the American Conservative Union (ACU) "has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against MoveOn.org Political Action and the New York Times Company for violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971," as modified by 2002's BCRA.

On Monday, September 10, 2007, MoveOn sponsored a full page advertisement in the New York Times attacking General David Petraeus prior to his report to Congress regarding the status of the United States military operations in Iraq. The open rate for a full page black and white advertisement in the New York Times is $181,692. MoveOn only paid $65,000 for the ad, according to multiple press reports.

The New York Times Company’s “discount” is in effect a corporate soft money contribution to a federal political committee. MoveOn’s acceptance of this corporate soft money contribution exceeds federal contributions and is a clear violation of FEC laws.

Now, I'm well aware that some would be embarrassed by such a suit, because…

The New York Post reported that The New York Times charges a higher rate, $181,692, setting up erroneous reports that MoveOn got a "lefty" discount. But the higher price is for ads guaranteed to run on a specific day, said New York Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis.

I'm sure the ACU lawyers have looked into that and have a counter-answer set.

Read On…

Redstate's Erick Erickson makes the point on my mind:

How kind of the Times to make sure they had an open slot on the day Petraeus's testimony ran so MoveOn could make its ad more timely.

Review the books.

“ACU demands a full and thorough investigation of the cost of the Ad and the discount given by the New York Times Company to MoveOn.org Political Action, for payment by MoveOn of the usual and normal charge for the costs of the Ad and the requisite civil money penalty for violation of federal law by each of the Respondents,” ACU Chairman David A. Keene stated in the FEC complaint.

We shall see what the FEC has to say.

President Bush Rips Democrats Over MoveOn.Org Ad

Bush hammers Dems on MoveOn.org ad

President Bush said Thursday that he has reached the conclusion that “most Democrats are afraid of irritating a left-wing group like MoveOn.org.”

Bush said the MoveOn.org ad describing Gen. David Petraeus as “General Betray Us” was “disgusting,” adding he was disappointed that more Democratic leaders have not spoken out against it.

"That was a sorry deal ," Bush said.

The ad, which many Democrats have publicly criticized, drew a strong response from Republican leaders and presidential hopefuls.

During a White House press conference, Bush weighed in on the issue for the first time. The president said it was one thing to attack him but indicated that he would not stand for attacks on Petraeus or the military.

He added that he was disappointed that not more Democrats spoke out against it, saying it shows that they are more worried about alienating left-wing groups than the military.

MoveOn.org reacted to Bush’s statement with an attack of its own.

“What’s disgusting is that the President has more interest in political attacks than developing an exit strategy to get our troops out of Iraq and end this awful war,” said Eli Pariser, the executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action Committee.

Giuliani Bashes NYT, Hillary, And MoveOn.org

Rudy Giuliani hits N.Y. Times, Hillary Clinton and MoveOn.org

Rudy Giuliani blasted the New York Times, Hillary Clinton and MoveOn.org to the press in Atlanta yesterday.

For Rudy Giuliani, it was the perfect liberal trifecta - a way to slam The New York Times, Hillary Clinton and the leftist MoveOn.org group in one fell swoop.

All Giuliani needed was one bogus newspaper story and $64,575 in campaign cash, both of which the Republican presidential hopeful used yesterday to spawn a bonanza of free publicity in the conservative blogosphere.

In one of the more transparent stunts of the 2008 presidential race, Giuliani began the day by accusing The Times of selling the Democrat-friendly MoveOn.org a "heavily discounted" ad on Monday that cast U.S. commander Gen. David Petraeus as "General Betray Us."

Republican candidates have blasted the ad as an unpatriotic smear of a revered general, and yesterday Republican Giuliani accused The Times, MoveOn.org and Democratic presidential foe Clinton - who has refused to denounce the ad - of engaging in "character assassination."

"What we should move on with ... is a civil discourse without name-calling," Giuliani said in Atlanta - after demanding that his campaign be given the same "discounted rate" to run a pro-Petraeus ad today.

But Giuliani's facts were challenged. Any advocacy group seeking to place a single, full-page, black-and-white ad in The Times on "standby" over a seven-day period - the paper picks the day - pays what MoveOn.org did, $64,575, sources said.

The New York Post reported The Times charges a higher rate, $181,692, setting up erroneous charges MoveOn got a "lefty" discount. But the higher price is for ads guaranteed to run on a specific day, said Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis.

All of which were details-schmetails to Team Giuliani, which leaped at the chance to hit three of the right's top liberal demons.

"These times call for statesmanship, not politicians spewing political venom," said Giuliani in his ad, just above a Web address for his campaign.

Clinton responded with a statement from her office noting that "Mayor Giuliani supports George Bush's Iraq policy and believes it is working.

"Sen. Clinton knows it isn't and will keep up her efforts to end the war," the statement said.

By the end of the day - with Giuliani's challenge already scoring huge points on conservative talk radio and Web sites - his campaign released its ad. It was unclear when it would run in The Times or how much it cost, but sources indicated it was the same $64,575 as MoveOn.org paid.

How DARE the same Democrats that accepted him as the General on the Ground In Iraq, praise him and say he is the best man for the job, then turn around an question this Man's Patriotism? And the New York Times running this cut-throat-ad co-sponsoring it! General Patraeus has a BRONZE STAR!! General Patraeus is a WAR HERO!! This is unacceptable and Americans should be OUTRAGED on BOTH sides of the isle that the far left fringe group MoveOn.org has stuped to a new low. Heads Up Republicans!!!!

There is a new tactic being used by the Democrats or the Anti-Victory Democrats or just nutballs in General.

This is the second time this has happened to me but the first time was not as aggressive.

I was on my way for a Check Up today and I still have my "Support President Bush and the Troops" bumper sticker on my car. A car spead up and changed lanes so they were right in front of me with a bumper sticker that said "Impeach Bush" (Which is odd for Oklahoma) on it.

Needless to say it slammed on it's brakes in front of me hoping I would rear-end it! Well I have excellent brakes and was sort of expecting it since it happened to me last week also but without the "Impeach Bush" bumper sticker, it was some other weird bumper sticker, needless to say they didnt get what they wanted and I didnt rear-end them.

Just a head's up to all of you driving out there and if you see a car in front of you that says "Impeach Bush" or some other cockamaymee sugestion WATCH IT!! They are out for us and a lawsuit!!

Talk about pissed off and desperate!!

Fred's Barely In And He's Already After Hillary: I knew I Liked This Man

Rival charges Hillary Clinton turned blind eye to Hsu's past

WASHINGTON: Hillary Clinton's links to illegal fundraising by Asian-Americans in 1996 should have made her wary of accepting $850,000 from a fugitive Asian-American this year, a rival presidential campaign said Tuesday.

The criticism came from an adviser to former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson, who chaired a Senate investigation into illegal contributions by Asian-Americans to Bill Clinton's re-election campaign and the couple's legal defense fund in the 1996 election cycle.

Thompson adviser Rich Galen said Clinton's 2008 campaign has become "the sequel" to her husband's scandal-plagued 1996 campaign.

Late Monday, Clinton announced she was returning $850,000 raised by fugitive Norman Hsu, who jumped bail in 1992 after being convicted of defrauding investors of $1 million. Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said the campaign was "unaware" of a warrant for Hsu's arrest.

"You have to look at this with a great deal of skepticism that - having been through this sort of thing in '96 - that nobody thought to say, 'Hey, you know, we better take another look at this before we take all this money,' " he said.

"And the fact that nobody did - or if they did, they decided to just put their finger in front of their lips and say shhh and try to sneak off into the distance - tells you a great deal about the fact that the Hillary Clinton campaign is the Bill Clinton campaign redux."

Wolfson said, "We reject the suggestion that suspicion should be based on ethnicity in America.

"Mr. Hsu donated to numerous charities and more than two dozen candidates and committees," he told The Examiner. "Despite conducting a thorough review of public records, our campaign, like these others, was unaware of Mr. Hsu's decade-plus-old warrant."

In 2005, prior to raising funds for Clinton, Hsu co-hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama, who later became a Democratic presidential candidate. Obama's campaign is now investigating the validity of $19,000 in contributions it accepted from people associated with Hsu.

"Are you suggesting we should have racially profiled Hsu because he's Asian?" Obama spokesman Bill Burton asked.

Clinton is returning donations to 260 people who were recruited by Hsu. The FBI is investigating whether these were merely "straw" donors who were funneling money from Hsu to Clinton to skirt campaign finance laws.

In March 1996, Bill and Hillary Clinton's legal defense fund accepted money from straw donors recruited by Yah Lin "Charlie" Trie. The Taiwan-born Democrat hand-delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of checks and money orders in two manila envelopes to the defense fund.

No, But maybe you should vet your donors better? But then again look at us: we are no better we didnt vet our donors to well either that's why some of them are in jail! But this dude "HSU" and Moveon.org are way over the top. Move On.org especially, questioning the integrity of our Commander General Patraeus. I sure hope the candidates take a real close look at thier donors this election season. And I hope the MoveOn.org crowd denounce that ad! Go Get 'Em Fred!

Usama Bin Laden To Air Video Tape On 9-11 Anniversary

Al Qaeda Announces New Bin Laden Video

Osama bin Laden will soon send a video message to America, according to a Web site regularly used by al Qaeda.

A posting late this afternoon said, "Soon, with the permission of God, a new visual tape, the Sheikh, the Lion, Osama bin Laden. May God protect him."

Bin Laden has not been seen on a new video since October 2004.

A still frame accompanying the announcement shows bin Laden with an all-black beard. In his 2004 appearance, his facial hair was predominantly gray.

Federal law enforcement authorities say that another Web site had posted a message on Sept. 2, promising "a special gift to be delivered on the blessed day of the invasion of Manhattan."

Usama Bin Laden

But U.S. officials are skeptical the tape will show a new message from bin Laden. One said, "We will believe it when we see it."

But with all the "Chatter" coming in, and Chertoff's "Gut Feeling" and that HUGE terror bust in Germany, I am beginning to get a little worried. I think all of us should keep a good lookout for anything suspicious between now and 9-11, and report it. Never be affraid to report it, if it turns out to be nothing, they dont hold it against you. By the way, Usama? Piss Off!!!!

UPDATE:

Does this look like UBL to anyone? It looks doctored to me.

First It Was Syriana Pelosi Now It's Syriana Kucinich

Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) Meets Syria's Assad, Bashes Bush

US Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich, on a Mideast visit that included a stop in Syria, said the country lambasted by the Bush administration deserves credit for taking in more than a million Iraqi refugees.

Kucinich, a strong anti-war opponent who trails far in the US presidential polls, also said he won't visit Iraq on his trip to the region because he considers the US military deployment there illegal.

"I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation ... I don't want to bless that occupation with my presence," he said in an interview in Lebanon, after visiting Syria. "I will not do it."

Kucinich, who accused the Bush administration of policies that have destabilized the Mideast, met with Syrian President Bashar Assad during his visit to Damascus. He said Assad was receptive to his ideas of "strength through peace."

Syriana Kucinich

He also praised Syria for taking in Iraqi refugees.

"What most people are not aware of is that Syria has taken in more than 1.5 million Iraqi refugees," Kucinich said. "The Syrian government has actually shown a lot of compassion in keeping its doors open, and being a host for so many refugees."

Kucinich said he would ask UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to follow up on the "dire conditions" in southern Lebanon, especially Israeli cluster bombs leftover from the war that have killed more than 30 and injured at least 200 since the fighting's end.

"There has to be a commitment to cleaning up these cluster bombs," Kucinich said.

Germany Foils Attack On Ramstein Air Base

BERLIN — Three suspected Islamic terrorists from an Al Qaeda-influenced group nursing a "profound hatred of U.S. citizens" were arrested on suspicious of plotting imminent, massive bomb attacks on U.S. facilities in Germany, prosecutors said Wednesday.

The three men had some 1,500 pounds of hydrogen peroxide -- easily enough to make a bomb with the explosive power of 1,200 pounds of TNT, prosecutors said at a news conference.

"We were able to succeed in recognizing and preventing the most serious and massive bombings," Federal Prosecutor Monika Harms told reporters.

She declined to name specific targets but said the suspects had an eye on institutions and establishments frequented by Americans in Germany, including discos, pubs and airports.

Earlier, Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung was quoted by ARD television as saying Frankfurt International Airport and the large U.S. air base at Ramstein, in southwestern Germany, were targets. Harms would not confirm the report.

Officials said the 35 percent solution of hydrogen peroxide, stored in a hideout, easily could have been mixed with other additives to produce a powerful bomb.

"This would have enabled them to make bombs with more explosive power than the ones used in the London and Madrid bombings," Joerg Ziercke, head of the Federal Crime Office, Germany's equivalent of the FBI, said at the news conference.

The three suspects -- two German converts to Islam, ages 22 and 28, and a 29-year-old Turk -- first came to the attention of authorities because they had been caught observing a U.S. military facility in Hanau, near Frankfurt, at the end of 2006, officials said.

Ramstein Air Base

All three had undergone training at camps in Pakistan run by the Islamic Jihad Union, and had formed a German cell of the group, which officials said was influenced by Al Qaeda.

The Islamic Jihad Union was described as a Sunni Muslim group based in Central Asia that was an offshoot of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, an extremist group with origins in that country.

"The group, which is influenced by Al Qaeda, set up a German cell in winter of 2006 with the goal of finding recruits here to carry out attacks," Harms said.

The three had no steady work and were collecting unemployment benefits while their main occupation was the plot, officials said.

"This group distinguishes itself through its profound hatred of U.S. citizens," Ziercke said.

He said members of Germany's elite GSG-9 anti-terrorist unit arrested two suspects at a holiday home in central Germany on Tuesday.

A third suspect fled through a bathroom window but was apprehended about 300 meters (yards) away.

Germany, which did not send troops to Iraq, has been spared terrorist attacks like the train and subway bombings in Madrid and London -- although its involvement in the attempt to stabilize Afghanistan has led to fears it might be targeted.

German and U.S. officials have warned of the possibility of a terrorist attack, and security measures have been increased.

In July 2006, two gas bombs were placed on German commuter trains but did not explode. Officials said that attack was motivated by anger over cartoons portraying the Prophet Muhammad in a Danish newspaper. Several suspects are on trial in Lebanon, and a Lebanese man has been charged in Germany.

Wolfgang Bosbach, a top legislator from Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats, noted the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks next week, as well as deliberations by the German parliament in the next few weeks over whether to extend its troop mandates in Afghanistan.

"We are in a highly sensitive period," he said.

Merkel said in an interview released Wednesday that German troops would remain in Afghanistan for several more years, despite recent setbacks in the region. "To walk away would send the wrong signal," she told N-24 television.

Robert Payne at Fraport AG, which operates Frankfurt International Airport, said that it was "business as usual" but had no further comment about the arrests or any details about the alleged claims of the facility being a target.

Navy Capt. Jeff Gradeck, spokesman for the U.S. military's European Command in Stuttgart, said German authorities had contacted them concerning the alleged plot, but he had no further information.

Ramstein is one of the best-known U.S. Air Force bases worldwide because it serves as a major conduit for U.S. troops moving in and out of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It is a key transit point for injured troops from Iraq and Afghanistan who are flown there to be taken to nearby Landstuhl.

The news of the arrests came a day after Denmark's intelligence service arrested eight alleged Islamic militants with links to senior Al Qaeda terrorists, saying it had thwarted a major attack.

Ziercke said that although there were similarities to the group arrested in Denmark, no direct connection between the two has been established.
