God Bless You President And Laura Bush!

Thank You for keeping us all safe for the last 8 years, pulling us back up and on our feet again when our hearts were broken.

You have put up with more than any President should ever have thrown at him. You went through 9-11 and when everyone else turned their back's on you, and totally disagreed with any of the decisions you made, I didnt. I backed you all the way.

You went through 9-11, The Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy, 2 Wars, 3-4 Devistating Hurricain's, you were more concerned about protecting Our Country than you were about winning Election's and Approval ratings.

You gave more than any President should ever be asked to give, and you did it with Dignity, Class, And held your head high.

You are a Class Act Mr. President George W. Bush!!!

You will be terribly missed.

May God keep you and your family and it's time to go home now.

President Bush Gives Final Press Conference As President

The postmortems on the presidency of George W. Bush are all wrong. The liberal line is that Bush dangerously weakened America's position in the world and rushed to the aid of the rich and powerful as income inequality worsened. That is twaddle. Conservatives--okay, not all of them--have only been a little bit kinder. They give Bush credit for the surge that saved Iraq, but not for much else.

He deserves better. His presidency was far more successful than not. And there's an aspect of his decision-making that merits special recognition: his courage. Time and time again, Bush did what other presidents, even Ronald Reagan, would not have done and for which he was vilified and abused. That--defiantly doing the right thing--is what distinguished his presidency.

Bush had ten great achievements (and maybe more) in his eight years in the White House, starting with his decision in 2001 to jettison the Kyoto global warming treaty so loved by Al Gore, the environmental lobby, elite opinion, and Europeans. The treaty was a disaster, with India and China exempted and economic decline the certain result. Everyone knew it. But only Bush said so and acted accordingly.

He stood athwart mounting global warming hysteria and yelled, "Stop!" He slowed the movement toward a policy blunder of worldwide impact, providing time for facts to catch up with the dubious claims of alarmists. Thanks in part to Bush, the supposed consensus of scientists on global warming has now collapsed. The skeptics, who point to global cooling over the past decade, are now heard loud and clear. And a rational approach to the theory of manmade global warming is possible.

Second, enhanced interrogation of terrorists. Along with use of secret prisons and wireless eavesdropping, this saved American lives. How many thousands of lives? We'll never know. But, as Charles Krauthammer said recently, "Those are precisely the elements which kept us safe and which have prevented a second attack."

Crucial intelligence was obtained from captured al Qaeda leaders, including 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, with the help of waterboarding. Whether this tactic--it creates a drowning sensation--is torture is a matter of debate. John McCain and many Democrats say it is. Bush and Vice President Cheney insist it isn't. In any case, it was necessary. Lincoln once made a similar point in defending his suspension of habeas corpus in direct defiance of Chief Justice Roger Taney. "Are all the laws but one to go unexecuted, and the government itself go to pieces, lest that one be violated?" Lincoln asked. Bush understood the answer in wartime had to be no.

Bush's Third achievement was the rebuilding of presidential authority, badly degraded in the era of Vietnam, Watergate, and Bill Clinton. He didn't hesitate to conduct wireless surveillance of terrorists without getting a federal judge's okay. He decided on his own how to treat terrorists and where they should be imprisoned. Those were legitimate decisions for which the president, as commander in chief, should feel no need to apologize.

Defending, all the way to the Supreme Court, Cheney's refusal to disclose to Congress the names of people he'd consulted on energy policy was also enormously important. Democratic congressman Henry Waxman demanded the names, but the Court upheld Cheney, 7-2. Last week, Cheney defended his refusal, waspishly noting that Waxman "doesn't call me up and tell me who he's meeting with."

Way To Go President Bush!! McCain?, You Getting All This?

Bush calls on Congress to lift offshore drilling ban

Bush Looks Offshore to Fix High Oil Prices

US President George W. Bush on Wednesday urged Congress to lift a decades-old ban on offshore oil drilling to reduce dependence on foreign imports and offset sky-high energy prices.
Calling the federal ban "outdated and counterproductive," Bush asked the Democratic-controlled Congress to take action to expand access to the nation's Outer Continental Shelf.

"Congress must face a hard reality. Unless members are willing to accept gas prices at today's painful levels or even higher, our nation must produce more oil, and we must start now," Bush said in a news conference in the White House Rose Garden.

Bush called on lawmakers to expand US oil production by increasing access to the Outer Continental Shelf, citing experts who say access the OCS could produce about 18 billion barrels of oil.

"That would be enough to match America's current oil production for almost 10 years," he said.

Under the 1981 federal moratorium, states are prohibited from allowing offshore oil and gas drilling and exploration, protecting virtually the entire Atlantic and Pacific coastlines and sections of the Gulf of Mexico.

In Case You Missed It/Gordon Brown PM Britain: "World Owes President Bush Debt Of Gratitude"

With the Pope's Visit last week this event was overshadowed and of course no media oulet is going to cover this.

Brown upbeat on US ‘special relationship’

Gordon Brown heaped praise on George W. Bush with language evoking Tony Blair on Thursday, as he sought to overcome the impression that the “special relationship” had entered a cooler phase.

Speaking at a joint press conference in the White House Rose Garden, Mr Brown said he stood “shoulder to shoulder” with Mr Bush in a transatlantic bond that was “stronger than ever”. “The world owes President Bush a huge debt of gratitude in leading the world in our determination to root out terrorism,” Mr Brown said.

In taking the measure of the next US president, the prime minister hoped to find fresh long-term purpose for a relationship that has become mired in the trials of conducting two wars and tackling a financial downturn.

Relations between Britain and the US have appeared to become less close since the departure of Mr Blair, who had a particularly strong relationship with Mr Bush. Tensions have emerged with Mr Brown, particularly over policy in Iraq.

On Thursday, Mr Bush and Mr Brown made a show of unity, delivering a tough message to Iran over its nuclear programme and advocating the widening of European Union sanctions against Tehran. Mr Brown pledged to talk to EU leaders in coming days to broaden sanctions to liquefied gas, sending “another signal to the regime that what is happening is unacceptable”. Mr Bush praised Mr Brown for his tough stance on Iran, saying “he sees the threat as I do”.

Addressing the faltering world economy, Mr Brown called for “vigilance” and concerted action to restore international confidence but there were no specific proposals from the two leaders.

Turning to Zimbabwe, Mr Bush chastised President Robert Mugabe for presiding over a sham election. “What kind of election is it if you [do] not let the will of the people be known,” he said.

Both leaders were at pains to stress the enduring strength of bilateral ties, referring to the “special relationship” a dozen times. Disagreements over strategy in Iraq, highlighted by recent fighting in Basra, were glossed over. While some US officials are privately critical of the UK’s handling of southern Iraq, Mr Bush chose to praise the heroism of British troops, while Mr Brown pledged there would be no “artificial timetable for withdrawal”.

Amid the pleasantries, however, there was room for disagreement. Mr McCain has expressed disappointment about the UK troop drawdown in Iraq, while Mr Brown's pro-trade instincts clash with the protectionist rhetoric of Ms Clinton and Mr Obama. But Mr Brown believes there are important areas of agreement, particularly on climate change, with whomever is elected. The change of administration is, in his mind, an opportunity to recast relations across the Atlantic.

Convincing the candidates to leave the campaign trail to meet him was perhaps the biggest coup of Mr Brown's trip to America, which has been eclipsed by the Pope’s visit.

Israel Prepares For Bush Visit

I dont like this, I dont like this at all. I am seriously concerned that our President is going to the middle east right now. It just doesnt feel right. Maybe another time but not right now. Here's a snip from a story on how Israel is getting ready for Bush's visit.

[*snip*]
With hundreds of hotel rooms booked and municipal crews unfolding red, white and blue flags, Jerusalem is getting ready for its highest- profile visitor in years: President Bush.
Jerusalemites are accustomed to waiting in traffic jams as convoys of black sedans shuttle visiting dignitaries around the city, the seat of Israel's government. But Bush, who arrives for three days beginning Wednesday, constitutes a VIP of a different order.

Israel is pulling out all the stops to impress a man who is perhaps its staunchest foreign ally in his first visit as U.S. president.

Jerusalem is spending nearly $400,000 to spruce itself up for the visit, said Jacob Avishar, the city official in charge of coordinating preparations. Garbage teams are in furious race to clean the city's often dusty streets and walls tagged with spray paint, he said.

More than 10,500 policemen and security personnel will be deployed to protect Bush and keep order during the visit—more than one-third of Israel's entire police force, according to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.

"There will be so much security nobody will be able to get anywhere near the president," Rosenfeld said.

Rest Of Story Here

This is the reason I dont feel good about Bush going to the middle east right now! Here is another *snip* from the American Al-Qaeda idiot that seems to be waiting for our President.

President Bush: We Are Waiting For You
[*snip*]
American Al-Qaeda leader Adam Gadahn told his followers to welcome Bush "with bombs and traps" upon his upcoming visit to the Middle East this week.

Gadahn is the star of the latest al Qaeda propaganda video to be posted online by the group's media wing, As Sahab.

In his newest dramatic gesture, Gadahn tore up his U.S. passport in protest of the imprisonment of fellow al Qaeda followers Abu Zubaydah, John Walker Lindh and Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman.

"I don't need it to travel anyway," he said afterwards.

Gadahn made reference to November's Annapolis conference of Middle Eastern leaders, saying it was a gathering of Bush's "loyal puppets." He said the United States has been "unmistakably defeated" in Iraq in Afghanistan and has lost the battle for hearts and minds "in spectacular fashion."

"They're about to hand the whole mess over to local proxies who, if they haven't already, shall soon rue the day they sold their souls and religion to the American devil," Gadahn said.

Gadahn also made reference to Pakistan, but didn't mention the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, indicating the video may have been made before her death. Rather, he said Al Qaeda "continues to strike the ruling regime" there as it fights against President Pervez Musharraf's "farce of elections."

I know the President should be able to travel anywhere he want's at any time he want's, but after the Bhutto assassination, I just dont think now is the time. However I do have a message for Gadahn: If you harm our President, you will have made the biggest mistake of all. If you thought Bush was bad, wait till Our Vice President Cheney get's his hands on the controls!! There will be no-where you can hide and no Country that will be safe. I hope you are just all talk, for your own sake!

Bush Wins Another Battle - Troops Will Get Funded

Troops WILL Get Funded FINALLY!!

*snip* The Democratic-controlled House is expected to give President Bush an end-of-session victory in his yearlong battle with anti-war lawmakers over Iraq by approving $70 billion for U.S. military operations there and in Afghanistan.

The vote Wednesday also would represent the final step in sealing a deal between Democrats and Bush over how much money to provide domestic agencies whose budgets are set each year by Congress. The Iraq funds have been bundled with an omnibus appropriations measure to create a massive $555 billion package that Bush has signaled he will sign.

Providing the war funds was a bitter pill for most Democrats, who on Monday sent the Senate a bill limited to $31 billion for U.S. operations in Afghanistan, which have much broader support than the unpopular mission in Iraq.

Story Here
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I LOVE that the Troops got thier funding they needed so badly before they started running out of things, but I have a problem with this funding bill AGAIN!!! Last time the Democrats stuffed I forget how much pork in the bill, remember funding for "Spinach Farmers"? I have nothing against Spinach Farmers mind you, I just think it should have been included in a different spending bill instead of a Troop funding bill.
This time, there are something like 9000 earmarks in this bill which I suppose Bush had to sign in order to get the Troops funded. One sticks out for me, if I knew all the rest I'm sure more would put a hitch in my git along, but why in the HELL are we going to spend 3 million dollars for TREE SNAKE CLEANUP IN GUAM? Guam has NO representation in the House or the Senate, they arent a state, yet they get to vote in our elections. I know it's American territory and we protect them, but since they have no representation in this Country why the hell are we cleaning up thier Tree Snakes? 3 million dollars worth of cleanup? Cant they just pick up the dead snakes and have a big bon fire and be done with it? Just ranting about another earmark that pisses me off!!!
Bush Hands Congress Their Ass
UPDATE:
Bush Is On A Roll
*snip*
“Iran was dangerous, Iran is dangerous, and Iran will be dangerous -– if they have the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon,” President Bush said on Tuesday. Iran had a covert nuclear program before 2003 -- "What’s to say it couldn’t start another covert, nuclear weapons program?” Bush asked on Monday...
President Bush Yesterday 12-03-07 Giving A Speech On Getting Something Done In Congress, FUNDING THE TROOPS COMES TO MIND!
Bush Raises The Stakes
President Bush challenged Congress Monday to approve more money for the war in Iraq before leaving Washington for the holidays, setting up the prospect that he may call for a special session to force lawmakers to allocate those funds.
"It's unconscienable to deny funds to our troops in harm's way because some in Congress want to force a self-defeating policy, especially when we're seeing the benefits of success," Bush said at a Monday morning news conference in the White House Rose Garden.
His comments represent a little bit of legislative brinksmanship the day before members return to Washington for what promises to be a frenzied December session.
The president warned Congress that the Army would run out of money in March and the Pentagon would have to lay-off as many as 100,000 non-military support personnel to save money for the military effort.
Democrats and other outside budget groups have disputed those fiscal projections in the past, arguing the Department of Defense has the money necessary if officials re-allocate it properly.
Bush was clearly trying to capitalize, in part, on comments various Democrats made last week acknowledging the escalation of U.S. troops in Iraq over the summer has helped quell violence in the war-torn country, particularly those remarks by Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, a prominent critic of the war who also controls the Pentagon's budget.
"We changed our strategy and now even many of those who initially opposed the surge acknowledge that it is achieving results," Bush said. "It is time for members of Congress to meet their responsibility to our men and women in uniform, and they should stay in session until they pass these emergency funds for our troops."
Democrats quickly denounced the president's remarks.
“A sagging economy has left American families struggling on the homefront while thousands of American troops are risking their lives on the battlefront," said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel (Ill.). "This morning, the President called on Congress to approve plans for more the same. The status quo might be acceptable to the President, but this Congress will insist on a new direction.”
The Democratically-controlled Congress has a heavy slate of legislation to complete before wrapping up its business for the year, and Bush pressed on lawmakers to complete an update of the electronic surveillance law that expires in February, pass their remaining spending bills for the year and approve legislation to save millions of Americans from the alternative minimum tax before leaving town later this month.
Failing Congress
Congress returns to work this week, and things continue to look bad for Democrats. When Democrats took power, they had three major goals: to end the war in Iraq, cripple Bush's presidency, and pave the way for a Democratic sweep next year. They have failed in all three respects. Our Republican delegation from Oklahoma deserves a lot of credit for sticking to their principles and giving Republicans a great shot at gaining seats in 2008.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well playtime is over now onto business. But by Congress not doing much before they went on recess how are they suppose to hurry up and do anything? More Gridlock, more Battles, oh it's so nice to have Congress back! Pfft.

Democrats Worst Nightmare Comes True

Bush to undergo 'routine' colonoscopy

VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY TO BE SWORN IN AS 'PRESIDENT'

US President George W. Bush will undergo a "routine colonoscopy" at the Camp David retreat on Saturday, temporarily ceding his powers to Vice President Dick Cheney, the White House said Friday.
Cheney will serve as acting president until such time as Bush, who will be under anesthesia, says he is ready to resume his duties, presidential spokesman Tony Snow told reporters.

"The president has had no symptoms" of cancer, said Snow, who noted that Bush had been scheduled for such an examination since undergoing a colonoscopy in June 2002.

Will Cheney go in a vicious rampage and sock it to all the "Axis of Evil Countries" at once? Will the Democrat's go on a rampage? They have already lost thier minds, how much further can they go?

President Bush Receives Hero's Welcome In Albania

TIRANA, Albania - President Bush, enthusiastically welcomed as the first U.S. president in this former communist nation, served notice Sunday he is running out of patience with Russia's objections to independence for neighboring Kosovo.

"Sooner rather than later you've got to say 'Enough's enough - Kosovo is independent,'" Bush said, telling Albanians what they wanted to hear. He said independence was a certainty.

Nearing the end of an eight-day trip, Bush got a hero's reception in this desperately poor country, still struggling to recover from being cut off from the rest of the world for four decades under the harsh rule of dictator Enver Hoxha. Hoxha died in 1985, and Albania emerged from isolation in 1990 but still is one of Europe's most impoverished lands.

Cannons boomed salutes from mountains overlooking the capital. Huge banners proclaimed "Proud to be Partners," and billboards read "President Bush in Albania Making History."

At home, Bush's job approval rating stands at its all-time low. But here, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Bush was Albania's "greatest and most distinguished guest we have ever had in all times."

Throngs of people grasped Bush's hands, arms and fingers on the streets of Fushe Kruje, a small town near the airport where he stopped to chat in a cafe with business owners. Unused to such adoring crowds in America, Bush reveled in the attention. He kissed women on the cheek, posed for pictures and signed autographs. Someone reached out and rubbed his gray hair.

"Bushie, Bushie," people shouted. Some of the business people have received small loans under U.S. government programs.

The scene was uncharacteristically wild for a presidential crowd. Bush spokesman Dana Perino said later that the Secret Service assured Bush's safety, as always. "If they didn't think the president was safe, obviously they wouldn't have put him in that position," she said.

While the United States supports Albania's bid for membership in NATO, Bush said this country still has to make more political and military reforms and crack down on corruption and organized crime.

"We are determined to take any decision, pass any law and undertake any reform to make Albania appropriate to receive the invitation" to join the western military alliance, Berisha said at a news conference with Bush.

Albania has eagerly embraced democracy and idolizes the United States. Three stamps have been issued featuring Bush's picture and the Statue of Liberty, and the street in front of parliament has been renamed in his honor.

The president spent just eight hours here and then flew to Bulgaria, another Cold War Soviet ally turned pro-American. The two stops gave an upbeat ending to Bush's six-country trip after big protests earlier in Rome and at the summit of industrialized nations in Heiligendamm, Germany.

Kosovo has been run by the United Nations and NATO since 1999, when Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic's forces were ousted after a NATO air war ended his crackdown on independence-seeking ethnic Albanians, who make up 90 percent of Kosovo's population.

The U.N. Security Council has been divided over Kosovo's independence. The United States and key European countries support Kosovo's statehood while Russia, traditionally a Serbian ally, opposes it. Moscow says it would set a dangerous precedent for other breakaway regions.

Bush said diplomats from the United States, Russia and European Union will try to find common ground on a formula for independence.

"But if it's apparent that that's not going to happen in a relatively quick period of time, in my judgment, we need to put forward the (U.N.) resolution," Bush said. "Hence, deadline." He did not specify a date.

Negotiations must result in "certain independence," Bush said. "That's what's important to know."

Bush said the summit in Heiligendamm had tried to determine whether there was a way to make Kosovo independence acceptable to Russia. French President Nicolas Sarkozy unexpectedly called for a delay on the issue, and the summit failed to reach agreement.

Bush urged Albania to help maintain peace and calm in Kosovo as the independence talks move forward.

Predominantly Muslim, Albania has 140 troops in Afghanistan and about 120 troops in Iraq - a presence that President Alfred Moisiu says will not end as long as the Americans are engaged there. Bush met here with some of the troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Albanians know the horror of tyranny," the president said. "And so they're working to bring the hope of freedom to people who haven't known it. And that's a noble effort and a sacrifice."

In saluting Albania's democracy, Bush praised it as a country that has "cast off the shackles of a very oppressive society and is now showing the world what's possible."

During his visit, the president had lunch with the prime ministers of Albania, Macedonia and Croatia, which hope to join NATO.
