WAY TO GO TROOPS!!!!/Patreaus/Crocker Report

Well, my take on this whole thing is there has been great improvements being made in Iraq and we have alot more work to do.

The Security is Improving, The Surge is working.

In all the little towns and goverments there is political progress being made and in turn it will head towards the Federal Level.

You cant get your government together if you dont have Security.

Iran and Syria are right in the thick of this and Iran for sure has to be delt with.

Sadr has disarmed, and Al-Qaeda is getting thier asses kicked on a daily basis!
Not to mention Move On.org and the New York Times.

WAY TO GO TROOPS!!

WAY TO GO PATREAUS!!!

Why dont these retreat-in defeat Democrats shut up and give Patreaus a chance to speak.

Patreaus is sitting there like "Am I going to have to listen to this crap all day"?

This is a democracy, not a military dictatorship. The armed services of this country report to civilians. Congress is well within its Constitutional rights and duties to do exactly what it is doing today.

Granted, you don't like the Democrats for questioning the military, but I'm very thankful to live in this country and not in a country where the military is in charge.

And I have a suspicion that were the roles reversed (the Republicans questioning a military officer serving a Democratic president) you'd be happy with the procedure.

:-)

Thsi was to be expected Marie, since the Dems had planned their response when it was first reported several months ago that Patraeus would report to the Congress.

Joanne, While the military answers to the peole through elected officials, whether Democrat or republican it is NOT their riight to come to conclusions BEFORE the very reprt that THEY THEMSELVES requested.

A report is just thae, reporting to the Congress so that they can make an assessement based on the report from those in the field.

Demcorats are trying to be arm chair Generals who neither have the experience nor knowledge of caommand and strategy.

The current crop of Democrats would have called Eisenhower on the carpet for his D Day strategy and accused him before his report was given of being FDR's puppet and lying to the Congress to supprt his landing strategy.

If this Congress would have been around in 1944, Normandy's beaches would have NEVER been taken and the liberation of Europe would have become a wish list for military commanders as Congress would have pushed to appease and negotiate with Hitler, while working to surrender our forces to the Nazis.

The Bizarro View Of Iraq By Chuck Schumer

And so the fall Senate session shifts into gear as the senior Senator from New York, Charles Schumer, takes to the floor after the August recess and gives his assessment of the surge in Iraq. Here's the nub of what Schumer said in his 10 minute address to his anti-war fringe and, for that matter, the remnants of al Qaeda that have been getting wiped out in Iraq over the last four months.

And let me be clear, the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al Qaeda said to these tribes we have to fight al Qaeda ourselves. It wasn't that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here. And that is because there was no one else there protecting.

Get it? Schumer is saying that the Bush-Petraeus plan is such a failure that the tribal sheiks had to take matters into their own hands because our military was so inept. Our military had nothing to do with clearing out al Qaeda out of Ramadi and Baquba, news that will I'm sure come as quite a surprise to the brave men and women who distinctly remember things a little differently, having flushed out al Qaeda and all.

But what Schumer says is important, because it telegraphs the tack that the Democrats are going to take in days and weeks ahead. The Democrats have the same view of the military that they do of all Americans. The average American, according to the liberal view, cannot make it on their own without government programs, regulation or control. The same holds true for the military. They cannot possibly get it right if they are led by a conservative commander-in-chief.

Not only is Schumer calling the American military incompetent, he's calling them liars, as well. Here's what General Petraeus had to say about Anbar on Hugh's show in July

But the detention, or the capture or killing of the number of leaders that we have taken out in recent months, and weeks, actually, and the progress in terms of just clearing areas of them_as you know, Anbar Province has really become quite relatively clear of al Qaeda. Eastern Anbar still has some, and we are working in that area. We have recently cleared Western Baquba, which was almost al Qaeda central, the capitol of the new caliphate that they have tried to establish here in Iraq. So there has been considerable progress against them...

About a month later, Major General James Simmons, deputy commanding general for Multi-National Forces in Iraq, had the following to say about al-Anbar Province:

Well, the operation that you're talking about that I mentioned the other day was Operation Lightning Hammer which was conducted by MND-North [Multi-National Division-North], which is headquartered out of Hawaii, the 25th Infantry Division commanded by Major General Randy Mixon. They conducted a 12-day, large scale operation in Diyala to disrupt al Qaeda and other terrorist elements that are operating in the Diyala River Valley. And the operation went into the process of clearing about fifty villages and palm groves. It was a very successful operation, resulted in 26 al Qaeda members being killed, and 37 of them detained, 10 very large weapons caches were taken down in the process of this operation that went on there north and east of Baqubah.

So this didn't happen, according to Chuck Schumer. Generals Petraeus and Simmons are liars. Sunni and Shia warlords got tired of our troops spinning their wheels while building up the surge size and chased out al Qaeda themselves.

Ed Gillespie, Counselor to the President and present in al-Anbar over the weekend, told Hugh in an interview today that these same tribal sheiks that Schumer is calling warlords told President Bush that yes, they once fought against multi-national forces, but now have fought side by side with our forces to root out al Qaeda.

Schumer's attitude towards the military, and the contempt in which he holds them, needs to be remembered as we approach November, '08. There is one party that respects the military and appreciates the service they provide to all of us, and there is one party that uses them as a political tool, and are willing to completely rewrite history to deny any good the military does in order to make political gains. Which one are you going to vote for?

Calling General Petraeus "Betray Us" is dumb. Really dumb. But no dumber than calling a United States Senator "Hitlery."

It's all childish. Everyone who thinks its cool to call her "Hitlery" needs to think about the hypocrisy of howling about "Betray Us."

It's ALL childish. And unworthy of supposedly mature adults.

Joanne,

Dumb?

That ad was WAY beyond Dumb!

Patreaus is the Military Commander on the ground in charge in Iraq.

And MoveOn.org had the gall to question his Patriotism even before he gave his testimony?

And the Slimeballs at the New York Times ran it?

The same Move On .org that believes they have taken over the Democrat Party, If I recall they said "We own it now"! Which means they are now speaking on behalf of all Democrats!

How did Hillary even get into this? There isnt even any comparison!!

No this was another slimeball tactic used by the far left Lunatics over at Move On.org expecting a poor out come from a report for them.

Remember that Senator "If there's good news in the Surge for us it's bad for the Democrats"!

The Patreaus report should have made ALL Americans Happy, not just a few.

But the Democrat party doesnt believe in America anymore and that ad proves it.

The attack on the character of General Petraeus was totally out of line. Congressman Wexler from florida was out of lione at the hearings too. The General is a member of the US military and can't fire back at the politicians for them attacking his character. It's another underhanded move by the Soros funded move on.org. Americans aren't going to put up with those outside agitators any longer.

Joanne, I actually agree with you. I wince, sometimes, because of my fellow conservatives resorting to such "clever" name-calling; because it takes away any ability to claim ownership of the high road, by those on my side.

I heard people in Congress were secretly referring to Pelosi as "Pelosi Galore". I used that a few times on comment sections. But it does demean myself and the level of serious discourse, as much as anything else.

I think nicknames can be cute and fun at times; but it really affects the tone of the discourse. "Obama bin Laden" is another one of those inane nicknames that just isn't helpful when our side calls him that.
