Democrats Drive Congress Into Ground: We Are Screwed

Bush Lay's The Smackdown To Congress:

New Congress at war over everything

In a closed-door meeting before the last vote on the children’s health care bill, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer appealed for the support of about 30 wavering Republican lawmakers. What he got instead was a tongue-lashing, participants said.

The GOP lawmakers, all of whom had expressed interest in a bipartisan deal on the SCHIP legislation, were furious that the Democratic leader from Maryland had not reached out to them in a more serious way early on. They also criticized him and Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel of Illinois for failing to stop his allies outside Congress from running attack ads in their districts, while they were discussing a bipartisan deal.

The result was a predictable one for this bitterly divided Congress. The House vote for a second SCHIP bill was a healthy majority, but not the two-thirds needed to override another veto vowed by President Bush. Only one Republican switched his vote — to oppose the measure.

Democrats accused Republicans of hurting kids. Republicans howled about a heavy-handed, uncompromising Democratic majority. And another chance at bipartisan consensus slipped away.

“They spent $1.5 million through their various shill outreach groups attacking me and a handful of my colleagues,” Rep. Ric Keller (R-Fla.) said before the Hoyer meeting, “but they did not spend five minutes to approach me to ask for my vote.”

This us-against-them mentality has been an ongoing storyline of the new Democratic-controlled Congress. On the big items — Iraq, health care and spending — party leaders have shunned compromise.

Democrats are under tremendous pressure from liberal activists to take a hard-line approach against everything Bush. Republicans face similar pressure from their own base to stick with the president and prove they are serious about curtailing spending, even if it means less cash for a popular state-run health care program for children not covered by Medicaid.

Bush has only inflamed those tensions. He has threatened to veto Democratic legislation 46 times this year, according to data compiled by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). House Democrats have circulated a tally that puts the number at 35.

Whatever the number, the White House has been predictably confrontational — and so have Democrats.
The irony of the feud is that huge chunks of both parties are actually not far apart on the details of these big bills.

Consider Iraq. A large number of Republicans and Democrats would like to see limitations on both the duration of the war and the role of the U.S. military. And moderates such as Rep. Jim Walsh (R-N.Y.) have made it clear they could back a delicately constructed compromise. In fact, Walsh issued an open-ended statement urging Bush and Congress to implement a new strategy for the war the same morning Army Gen. David Petraeus testified in the House about the military situation in Iraq.

“I owe it to the people in my district to explain where I stand on the war,” Walsh said. But Democrats, convinced they could not force the war’s end, rejected calls by some in their own party to find a consensus and instead shifted focus to other concerns, including corruption and wasteful spending in Iraq.

9-11 Truthers And The Democrats Shorter Work Week

How on earth can I tie the two together you ask? Well first let's get to the Democrat's shorter work week. Remember when the Democrats won the '06 election? They declared this was going to be the hardest working Congress in American History, and they were going to put an end to the Two-Three day workweek. Haha well? More Broken Promises. And with all going well in Iraq why not take a break? It's not like Congress has done anything anyway unless it's to obstuct everything the Troops need to finish their mission. Here's a *snip* with a link to this story at the end:

Shortly after winning a majority last year, Democrats triumphantly declared that they would put Congress back to work, LOL promising an “end to the two-day workweek.”

But only 10 months into the session, with their legislative agenda often in gridlock with the Bush administration and a big election year looming, the Democrats are now planning a lighter schedule when the 110th Congress begins its second year in mid-January.

The House majority leader, Representative Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, told fellow Democrats this week that the House would not be in session next year on Fridays, except in June for work on appropriations bills.

Explaining that decision to reporters, Mr. Hoyer said, “I do intend to have more time for members to work in their districts and to be close to their families.”

His comments drew snickers from Republicans, who are quite happy to share their view that the American people did not get much value for all the extra time lawmakers spent in Washington.

“Is this a reward for our accomplishments in 2007?”LOL asked Representative Roy Blunt of Missouri, the Republican whip.

And on Friday, President Bush once again hammered Congressional Democrats, accusing them of failing to meet basic responsibilities like approving annual budget bills and confirming his nominee for attorney general, Michael B. Mukasey.

“This is not what Congressional leaders promised when they took control of Congress earlier this year,” Mr. Bush said. “Congress needs to keep their promise, to stop wasting time, and get essential work done on behalf of the American people.”

The Democrats, by contrast, say that after only 10 months of putting in longer days and weeks, they have made significant gains.Like? LMAO! They cited legislation, including an increase in the minimum wage and new ethics and lobbying rules, as well as in the nitty-gritty work of House committees, which they say has provided much-needed oversight of the Bush administration Ah Huh, right Pfft. and will also set the stage for an ambitious agenda next year.Which really means they havent accomplished ANYTHING, except the minimum wage agenda woopie!

And they blame Mr. Bush and Republicans for Congress’s low approval ratings, which they say will only help the Democrats expand their majority in 2008.( Well of course they do, Uh..What have they been smoking?) Congresses approval ratings werent this low when the Republicans were the majority, are these nutroots blind?

“Certainly, it has been a sprint and a marathon at the same time this year,” Cough, uh Cough said Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “We have accomplished a lot, especially on the domestic front.” Ha! Like what?

Mr. Van Hollen said he was not worried about Congress’s low approval ratings. “Every one of those polls also shows much stronger support for Democratic leadership than Republican leadership,” he said. Uh...WRONG! “The president is lashing out because he recognizes that people see the White House as an obstacle to change.” The President is lashing out because this is the lazyiest Congress in History and they keep playing footsie with bills they KNOW The President isnt going to sign so they are basically wasting taxpayer time and money drawing up bills they know the President will NOT sign KNOWING they will have to go back to square one and get a bill written that the President CAN sign because they KNOW drawing up cockamaymee bills with Billions of dollars of earmarks attached for the Democrat's so-called constituents, and slipping in the "Raising Of Taxes" is something that isnt going to slip past President Bush's eye and the Democrats KNOW full well President Bush isnt going to sign it!

Still, Democrats conceded that the hectic pace had taken a toll, especially on lawmakers who must travel long distances home and who have small children. And members of Congress have not gotten a raise or cost-of-living increase this year. Uh....Gee isnt that what the Republicans told The Democrats when the Democrats wanted to extend the Work Week Congress demanded needed to be longer back when they were elected to be the Majority?

On Wednesday, the House cast its one-thousandth roll-call vote of the year, the first time that it reached that mark since the Constitution was ratified (Yeah, but how many of them went knowingly on purpose nowhere just to try to make like President Bush is holding up progress when all along they know they have to draft a bill the President CAN sign, not some piece of crap legislation that tries to raise our taxes and slide earmarks through without even being noticed.) Democrats hailed the occasion, while Republicans sniped that only 106 of the votes were on bills ultimately signed into law, and that 45 of those bestowed names on post offices or other property. (See?)

“Unlike Congress, the American people do not mistake motion for progress,” said Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter, Republican of Michigan. “They want results. And given the approval ratings, they are certainly convinced they aren’t getting them.”

Mr. McCotter said changing the schedule was an example of Democrats’ breaking promises. “They said ‘five-day weeks,’ ” he said. And he scoffed at the notion that Mr. Hoyer was also responding to Republicans who wanted more time in their home districts.

“I wish he had that much concern and was as responsive to Republicans’ calls for input on major legislation,” Mr. McCotter said.

Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democrat of Florida, said the Democrats had to put in the hours to make up for Republican failings last year. “There was so much left undone by the 12 years of Republican control of the Congress, Yeah! Right! LOL Blame your Democratic shortcommings on the Republicans, sorry but we all know the truth. it was absolutely essential that we put our nose to the grindstone,” she said.

Ms. Wasserman Schultz has three children, 8-year-old twins and a 4-year-old. “It’s tough,” she said in a telephone interview from Orlando, where she had taken the children while she attended the Florida Democratic Convention there this weekend.

Mr. Blunt said he thought Democrats would regret this year’s schedule, which he said had distanced lawmakers from constituents.

Still, he said he and his colleagues would appreciate the Fridays out of session next year. “I would welcome, as I am sure all of our members would, a schedule that is more reflective of how the Congress should work,” Mr. Blunt said. “Rather than how it has worked in the last year.”

Let's see, the Democrats ran on "We are going to end the War in Iraq" (Didnt Happen), "We are going to Impeach The President" (Didnt happen and isnt going to), "We are NOT going to raise your taxes" (We all knew that wasnt true because the Democrats have NEVER met a tax they didnt like, not to mention Charlie Rangel is on the verge of drawing up the biggest tax hike in American History a/k/a "The Mother Of All Tax Hikes"), but we will save that for another story.

Now For The So Called "9-11 Truthers."

Now these people are starting to show up EVERYWHERE! Mainly at Ron Paul event's, but basically everywhere. Which brings us to another question: Is Ron Paul a Democrat Plant? Since the Democrats let all the conspiracy theory Loons run Amok during the Kerry Campaign, they have now taken up root on thier own and seem to have somewhat clung to Ron Paul. Now why would an out of control left wing lunatic fringe of the Democrat party be clinging to a "Supposed Republican Candidate".? Hmmmmmm

Hillary Papers Wont Be Available Before 2008 Election

Why is this no surprise?

Crossposted From Newsweek:

When author Sally Bedell Smith was researching her new book about Bill and Hillary Clinton's White House years, she flew to Little Rock to visit the one place she thought could be an invaluable resource: the new William J. Clinton Presidential Library. Smith was hoping to inspect records that could shed light on what role the First Lady played in her husband's administration. But Smith quickly discovered the frustrations of dealing with a library critics call "Little Rock's Fort Knox."

An archivist explained to Smith that the release of materials was tightly controlled by the former president's longtime confidant Bruce Lindsey. Could she look at memos detailing the advice Hillary gave Bill during debates over welfare reform? Smith asked. No, the archivist said, those memos were "closed" to the public because they dealt with "policy" matters. What about any records that show what advice Bill gave his wife about her 2000 U.S. Senate campaign? Those, too, were closed, the archivist said, because they dealt with "political" matters. "He essentially told me I had no chance of getting anything," says Smith, whose book, "For Love of Politics: Bill and Hillary Clinton, the White House Years," hits the bookstores this week.

The response Smith got isn't unusual. Nearly three years after the Clinton Library opened—and more than 21 months after its trove of records became subject to the Freedom of Information Act—barely one half of 1 percent of the 78 million pages of documents and 20 million e-mail messages at the federally funded facility are public, according to the National Archives. The lack of access is emerging as an issue in Hillary's presidential campaign: she cites her years of experience as First Lady as one of her prime qualifications to be president. Like other Democratic candidates, she has decried the "stunning record of secrecy" of the Bush administration; her campaign Web site vows to bring a "return to transparency" to government. But Clinton's appointment calendar as First Lady, her notes at strategy meetings, what advice she gave her husband and his advisers, what policy memos she wrote, even some key papers from her health-care task force—all of this, and much more documenting her years as First Lady, remains locked away, most likely through the entire campaign season. With nearly 300 FOIA requests pending for Clinton documents, and only six archivists at the library to process them, Archives spokeswoman Susan Cooper says it is "really hard to predict" if any of this material will be released before the election.

Bill Clinton has tried to cast blame for the backlog on the Bush White House. "Look, I'm pro-disclosure," Clinton said in a testy exchange with reporters during a recent press conference. "I want to open my presidential records more rapidly than the law requires and the current administration has slowed down the opening of my own records." But White House spokesman Scott Stanzel tells NEWSWEEK the Bush White House has not blocked the release of any Clinton-era records, nor is it reviewing any. (Under the 1978 Presidential Records Act, the former president and the current president get to review White House records before they are disclosed. Either one can veto a release.) Ben Yarrow, a spokesman for Bill Clinton, says the former president was referring "in general" to a controversial 2001 Bush executive order—recently overturned, in part, by a federal judge—that authorized more extensive layers of review from both current and former presidents before papers are released. (Hillary's campaign didn't respond to requests for comment.)

But documents NEWSWEEK obtained under a FOIA request (made to the Archives in Washington, not the Clinton library) suggest that, while publicly saying he wants to ease restrictions on his records, Clinton has given the Archives private instructions to tightly control the disclosure of chunks of his archive. Among the document categories Clinton asked the Archives to "consider for withholding" in a November 2002 letter: "confidential communications" involving foreign-policy issues, "sensitive policy, personal or political" matters and "legal issues and advice" including all matters involving investigations by Congress, the Justice Department and independent counsels (a category that would cover, among other matters, Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky and the pardons of Marc Rich and others). Another restriction: "communications directly between the President and First Lady, and their families, unless routine in nature."

Archives officials say Clinton is within his legal rights. But other Archives records NEWSWEEK reviewed show Clinton's directives, while similar, also go beyond restrictions placed by predecessors Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, neither of whom put any controls over the papers of their wives. This undoubtedly reflects the larger policy role Hillary played in her husband's administration. Still, some analysts are surprised at the broad range of documents Clinton asked the Archives to withhold. "It does sound pretty expansive. You start to wonder what's not included," says Steven Aftergood, director of the Federation of American Scientists' Project on Government Secrecy. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group suing the Clinton library for failing to respond to its FOIA requests, is struck by the former president's restriction on records relating to his and his wife's families. That, he says, blocks disclosure of records relating to Roger Clinton, the former president's half brother, and Hillary Clinton's two brothers, Tony and Hugh Rodham, both of whom were involved in controversial business deals and efforts to secure last-minute pardons later investigated by Congress. But John Carlin, a former Archives chief (and a Clinton appointee) who got the 2002 letter from Clinton, didn't blame the former president. "Given all that they went through in office," he says, the restrictions Clinton placed were "not surprising." Who knows, he asked, how the papers might be used by political foes? That's a question the Clintons don't want answered—at least not before next November.

Muslims Tell Christians: 'Make Peace With Us Or Survival Of World Is At Stake'

Prominent Muslim scholars are warning that the "survival of the world" is at stake if Muslims and Christians do not make peace with each other.

In an unprecedented open letter signed by 138 leading Muslim scholars from every sect of Islam, the Muslims plead with Christian leaders "to come together with us on the common essentials of our two religions."

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and Pope Benedict are believed to have been sent copies of the document which calls for greater understanding between the two faiths.

The letter also spells out the similarities between passages of the Bible and the Koran.

The Muslim scholars state: "As Muslims, we say to Christians that we are not against them and that Islam is not against them - so long as they do not wage war against Muslims on account of their religion, oppress them and drive them out of their homes."

The phrasing has similarities to the New Testament passage: "He that is not with me is against me" - a passage used by President George Bush when addressing a joint session of Congress nine days after 9/11.

The Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, a non-governmental organisation based in Amman, Jordan, has organised the letter.

The Institute said: "This historic letter is intended by its 138 signatories as an open invitation to Christians to unite with Muslims over the most essential aspects of their respective faiths - the principles of love of one God and love of the neighbour.

"It is hoped that the recognition of this common ground will provide the followers of both faiths with a shared understanding that will serve to defuse tensions around the world."

It continues: "Finding common ground between Muslims and Christians is not simply a matter for polite ecumenical dialogue between selected religious leaders.

"Together they (Muslims and Christians) make up more than 55 per cent of the population, making the relationship between these two religious communities the most important factor in contributing to meaningful peace around the world. If Muslims and Christians are not at peace, the world cannot be at peace."

Among those launching the letter in the UK will be David Ford, Regius Professor of Divinity, and Fellow of Selwyn College, University of Cambridge and founding director of the Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme.

Aref Ali Nayed, a leading theologian and senior adviser to the Inter-Faith Programme, will also take part at the event in central London.

Nancy Pelosi Is A Godless Witch

Pelosi defends refusal to put "God" on flag certificates

When 17-year-old Andrew Larochelle of Dayton, Ohio, crafted a plan to send his grandfather the gift of a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol, he never thought his sentiments about "God, country and family" would be questioned.

The Eagle Scout was surprised, however, when the personal inscription he requested attached to a flag he purchased from the U.S. Capitol was censored. The teen said he wrote, "In honor of my grandfather Marcel Larochelle, and his dedication and love of God, country and family."

The flag flew on Sept. 11, Marcel Larochelle's birthday. But when Andrew finally received the flag in the mail on Sept. 30, "God" was taken out of his note.

"I was shocked that the word 'God' would be taken off a personal message from my son to his grandfather," Andrew's father, Paul Larochelle, told FOX News.

The family contacted Rep. Michael Turner, R-Ohio, who had sought to fulfill the flag request. Turner requested an explanation for the omission from the Architect of the Capitol, the office responsible for flying American flags momentarily over the Capitol and then sending them to constituents who request them, all for a fee of $9.

Turner said he was told that AoC rules do not allow religious expressions on flag certificates.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has defended the omission made by acting Architect Stephen T. Ayers, and said she has no plans to change the existing rules.

House Republicans, however, have a different take. They say the Capitol has many religious expressions and Congress begins each day with a prayer. They want new rules allowing religious expressions on flag certificates. They also note that the message wasn't written by Congress but by a private citizen to another private citizen.

"This practice, which overturns a longstanding and long cherished congressional tradition, has rightly drawn outrage from the American people, who have grown weary of endless attempts by politicians and bureaucrats to bar the word God and even the most tacit references to faith from our public institutions," House Minority Leader John Boehner wrote in a letter to Pelosi.

Boehner said as speaker, Pelosi can instruct the acting Architect of the Capitol to set aside the written policy of his predecessor and restore the practice of including God's name.

To compromise, Rep. Robert A. Brady, chairman of the House Administration Committee, which oversees the Architect of the Capitol, has suggested allowing a uniform certificate of authenticity and then giving each congressional office latitude to handle personal inscriptions. Turner has said he is considering legislation to repeal the AoC rule.

And The Winner Of Tonight's Debate????????

HANDS DOWN!!!

I got this in the mail this morning.

Yesterday, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani continued their partisan bickering, this time over things like the constitutionality of the line item veto. While they played politics, Fred Thompson rose above it and took his conservative, small government, tax cutting message straight to the American people.

He talked directly to the American people about keeping more of what they earn. He talked truth about entitlements. He talked about keeping America safe. He made it known that when it comes to our national security, it won’t be his attorneys that Fred Thompson will first sit down with, it will be his generals.

Overall, he showed the courage and honesty to address the nation’s real problems, and the leadership to solve them. Fred Thompson may have been standing between Romney and Rudy, but he stood far above both of them.

Fred was great for his first debate. I think Fred is going to do fabulous. My faith lies in Fred :-)

Sandy Burglar Advising Hillary?

He’s back: Sandy Berger now advising Hillary Clinton

Sandy Berger, who stole highly classified terrorism documents from the National Archives, destroyed them and lied to investigators, is now an adviser to presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. Berger, who was fired from John Kerry’s presidential campaign when the scandal broke in 2004, has assumed a similar role in Clinton’s campaign, even though his security clearance has been suspended until September 2008. This is raising eyebrows even among Clinton’s admirers. “It shows poor judgment and a lack of regard for Berger’s serious misdeeds,” said law professor Jonathan Adler of Case Western Reserve University, who nonetheless called Clinton “by far the most impressive candidate in the Democratic field.”

Adler told The Examiner that it is “simply incomprehensible to me that a serious contender for the presidency would rely upon him as a key foreign policy advisor.”

He added: “If Senator Clinton becomes the Democratic nominee, at some point she will begin to receive national security briefings that will include sensitive information. At such a point, continuing to keep Berger on board as a key advisor, where he might have access to sensitive material, would be beyond incomprehensible.”

H/T To DD2 For The Burglar Photo

The Clinton campaign declined to comment.

On several occasions, Berger stuffed highly classified documents into his pants and socks before spiriting them out of the Archives building in Washington, according to investigators. On one occasion, upon reaching the street, he hid documents under a construction trailer after checking the windows of the Archives and Justice Department buildings to make sure he was not being watched.

Berger came back later and retrieved the documents, taking them home and cutting them up with scissors. Two days later, he was informed by Archive employees that his removal of documents had been detected.

“Berger panicked because he realized he was caught,” said a report by the National Archives inspector general, which also recounted his initial reaction. “Berger lied.”

Berger also lied to the public, telling reporters he made an “honest mistake” by “inadvertently” taking the documents, which he blamed on his own “sloppiness.” Bill Clinton vouched for the explanation for Berger, who served as his national security adviser.

Berger later conceded: “I was giving a benign explanation for what was not benign.”

The Justice Department initially said Berger stole only copies of classified documents and not originals. But the House Government Reform Committee later revealed that an unsupervised Berger had been given access to classified files of original, uncopied, uninventoried documents on terrorism. Several Archives officials acknowledged that Berger could have stolen any number of items and they “would never know what, if any, original documents were missing.”

At his sentencing in September 2005, Berger was fined $50,000, placed on probation for two years and stripped of his security clearance for three years.

Are you kidding me? Sandy Burglar advising Clinton? On what, how to steal classified documents and only recieve a pat on the wrist? So if Hillary wins, will she make Sandy Burglar her "Secretary Of State"? Does anybody want to go back to the Hillary and Bill culture of Corruption show? This is rediculous! Obama Takes Off The Flag

Obama Stops Wearing Flag Pin To Protest Iraq War

WATERLOO, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Asked about it Wednesday in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped wearing the pin shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens.

"The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.

"I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest," he said in the interview. "Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism."

On Thursday, his campaign issued a statement: "We all revere the flag, but Senator Obama believes that being a patriot is about more than a symbol. It's about fighting for our veterans when they get home and speaking honestly with the American people about this disastrous war."

Obama was campaigning in Iowa Thursday, the second day of a four-day trip to the early voting state.

At one stop, he called for new restrictions on deployment of National Guard and Reserve troops along with an expansion of benefits for them and their families.

"I will not be a president who extends tours for our Guard units overseas while Americans are stranded on rooftops right here at home," Obama said.

He said he would require "a period of rest and standard of readiness" before troops could be redeployed. He called for the head of the National Guard to be elevated to four-star rank and given a seat among the Joint Chiefs of Staff to reflect the heavy reliance on Guard soldiers and reservists during the Iraq war.

Since 2001, Obama said, more than 580,000 reservists have been activated, a level not seen since World War II.

In making his case, Obama pointed to an Iowa unit in which members learned from family and friends back home that their deployment had been extended. That unit—the 1st Battalion of the 133rd Infantry—recently returned after a 22-month deployment in Iraq.

"When we've got service members who have to find out that their tour has been extended in a phone call home, we're not keeping that trust and we're not keeping this country safe," Obama said.

He also called for increased mental health services, including screening and treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. He said nearly half of the National Guard troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from psychological problems, yet little emphasis is put on treating those disorders.

"We're not providing adequate treatment, screening and benefits," said Obama. "We need more mental health professionals and more training to recognize the signs."

So Obama doesnt like the Flag? What kind of nitwit is this guy? Does he understand that ALL of our Troops have to go through a mental stability and depression course before they are re-integrated back into Society again? He makes it sound like he thought up this idea when it has been implemented all along. How are these people suppose to run our Country when they dont even believe we are at War! Taking off the Flag pin is only a sign you dont like the symbol of America! Cant we leave the American Flag, the symbol of America OUT OF POLITICS?????

This is getting way out of hand. I just saw this commercial on tv and I coudnt believe it. This Rush Limbaugh distortion is completely out of control. And our House and Senate are wasting OUR MONEY and OUR TIME taking this up on the floor. And VoteVets certainly wasted money on this gem.

We all need to pick up the phone and call our House and Senate Members about this distortion.

Jenn has a bunch of phone numbers on the post below.

These groups are all funded by George Soros and Hillary Clinton is right in the middle of all this!

Mike's America Reminds us of what some of the other Democrat Senators And Congressman Have Said About Our Troops In The Past:

Senator Harry Reid: “That this war is lost, and that the surge is not accomplishing anything.”

Senator John Kerry: “If you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Congressman John Murtha: “Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”

Senator Dick Durbin: “If I read this to you and didn't tell you it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have happened by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others that had no concern for human beings.”

Senator Barrack Hussein Obama: "we’ve got to get the job done there [Afghanistan], and that requires us to have enough troops that we are not just air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there."

Senator Chuck Schumer: "And let me be clear. The violence in Anbar has gone down in spite of the Surge, not because of the Surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from Al Qaeda said to these tribes, "We have to fight Al Qaeda ourselves."

Senator Edward Kennedy: "We now learn that Saddam's torture chambers reopened under new management, U.S. management"

Were these guy's Censured? Were these people held to account for thier actions in any way? Hell NO! Yet Ken Salazar would like to Censure Rush Limbaugh a "Private Citizen." What will the Democrats try to pull next?

UPDATE: CITIZEN LETTER DEMANDING HARRY REID APOLOGISE AND SUPPORTING RUSH LIMBAUGH

The Citizen Letter States: To: Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid

I am joining this citizen letter to demand you apologize for your recent public statements and letter to Clear Channel attacking Rush Limbaugh. This is a blatant, partisan attempt to silence Mr. Limbaugh and other conservative voices in our nation. Mr. Limbaugh’s support of our troops and their mission is unquestioned. You and your cohorts – activist groups like Media Matters, and other elitist Senators – have intentionally distorted and manipulated Mr. Limbaugh’s comments. You, sir, are the one who owes the troops and the American people an apology for your despicable attempt at strong-armed censorship.
In addition, I am joining with other Americans who are standing against any and all efforts to censor, limit, or restrain the right of conservatives to participate freely in the marketplace of ideas. I oppose legislative efforts such as the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” as well as bureaucratic measures designed to restrain conservative speech or create mandated “equal time” that would serve to silence conservatives.

MoveOn.Org, Media Matters, And Dingey Harry Reid Attempt To Smear Rush Limbaugh

Here we go again. First it was General Patraeus, then Bill O'reilly, Now Rush Limbaugh. If anyone is a Regular Listener of Rush Limbaugh you already know this statement (Taken completely out of context) is a blatant LIE! Rush was NEVER talking about all Soldiers in General He was talking about ONE Slodier who was in the Army for 44 days, left Bootcamp ONLY, was NEVER in Combat, was never a Cprl., was never in the ARMY RANGERS EVEN, and lied to the press and said all kinds of things against our Troops! Jesse MacBeth! Jesse LIED about the True Soldiers that are fighting the War On Terror and what he calims was done in Iraq (In his opinion) even though he was never there. Rush is being lambasted in my opinion for his "Phony Soldiers" Comment, by the Liberal Main Stream Media. Sorry but MacBeth IS A Phoney Soldier! Harry Reid and crew (The ususal suspects) are out to get Rush Limbaugh and in turn want to turn this whole debate into the "The Fairness Doctrine" Arguement sure as I am typing this right now. This is the beginning of the arguement for the "Fairness Doctrine" that will be introduced into the House sometime next year you can bet!

Here is the Video that started the whole episode:

On top of all this ruckuss, Harry Reid takes to the Senate floor DEMANDING Rush Limbaugh APOLOGISE to the Troops (Which he did for Reid's benefit) which Rush did today, WHICH HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE, SEEING AS HE WAS TALKING ABOUT A "PHONEY SOLDIER TO BEGIN WITH"!

I stand with Rush Limbaugh on this people. Watch the Video and see for yourself who Rush was talking about and to whom he was talking to!

There will be a draft resolution in the House, and the Republicans are introducing a Resolution SUPPORTING Rush Limbaugh.

HOUSE RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LIMBAUGH
Mon Oct 01 2007 15:16:57 ET

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OCTOBER 1, 2007

Mr. KINGSTON submitted the following resolution

Honoring all Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and commending broadcaster Rush Limbaugh for his relentless efforts to build and maintain troop morale through worldwide radio broadcasts and personal visits to conflict regions.

Whereas the need to show support for American troops serving and fighting both here and abroad during a time of global conflict has never been greater, with the need to communicate an uplifting message of encouragement to American soldiers eternally important, in addition to the morale-boosting value of personal visits to combat region by highly-regarded individuals;

Whereas every American, to include service men and women and broadcasters, is entitled to free speech and the free exchange of ideas; Whereas daily radio broadcasts reaching tens of millions of civilians and soldiers both in America and abroad by way of the Armed Forces Radio Network are conducted five days a week by Rush Hudson Limbaugh III;

Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has consistently used his broadcast time to praise American troops and support them during their ongoing efforts to secure peace in a troubled world;

Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has met with troops in Afghanistan; raised and donated millions of dollars to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides college scholarships to the children of Marines and veterans of other branches killed in action; features an “Adopt a Soldier” program which provides them with free subscription access to his online program features; and Whereas Mr. Limbaugh’s commitment to American troops serving both here and abroad remains as strong as ever: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, Section 1. The House of Representatives makes the following findings:

(1) Americans serving in the United States Armed Forces have volunteered for such service and have not been drafted for that purpose.

(2) Those who serve in the Armed Forces deserve the respect of all Americans for their willingness to undertake that service

(3) Those who serve in the Armed Forces do not relinquish their constitutional right to express their opinions regarding public policy in a manner consistent with good order and discipline.

Sec. 2. House of Representatives—

(1) recognizes the service of all members of the Armed Forces serving in good standing and with honor to defend the United States, and the personal sacrifices made by them and their families;

(2) commits to judge the merits of the opinions of members of the Armed Forces regarding the policies of the United States, including those related to military actions in Iraq, without prejudice or personal bias;

(3) commends Mr. Limbaugh’s desire to see American troops achieve a successful outcome in Iraq, Afghanistan and wherever soldiers are stationed and his tireless public support for American troops and their families through radio broadcasts, fundraising and other public support;

(4) honors all members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel serving in harm’s way, as well as their families; and

(5) pledges to debate any supplemental funding request or any policy decisions regarding the war in Iraq with the solemn respect and the commitment to integrity that the sacrifices of these members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel deserve.

END

This is crazy! Dont the Democrats have ANYTHING better to do than bash Rush Limbaugh and take cheap shots at him in the MSM and the House and Senate Floor? This is NOTHING like the MoveOn.org ad, this is even more sinister and way worse when it comes to silencing Conservative Talk Radio! BEWARE Liberals we arent going down to the Fairness Doctrine and you are in for one hell of a fight!

It Get's Worse

Now the Daily Kos is teaming up with General Wesley Clark To get Rush Limbaugh off ARMED FORCES RADIO! What the hell is going on here? Here's a snip from Kos:

Let's Help Wes Get Rush off Armed Forces Radio!!
by jen
Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 12:59:05 PM PDT
Just got an email from Wes Clark who's taking it to the next level in dealing with Rush. Last week Wes sent out an email for us to send a message to Rush, challenging him to have Jon Stoltz of VoteVets.org on his show to tell him to his face that he was a phoney soldier.

Now, with no response from Rush, Wes is stepping it up. He sent out an email today which follows.

Wesley Clark

(Last year sometime, Wes sent out an action alert to get the Ed Schultz Show on Armed Forces Radio, and it worked! This will be a major victory if we can keep up the pressure and get Rush's show off Armed Forces Radio!)

WTF? This is getting more rediculous by the minute.

Since when is it the Senate's Business To Police The Airwaves?

Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?
