Democrat Party Officialy In Civil War! Chaos Insues, Name Calling, Mud Slinging, Etc..

Obama, Hillary in Civil War

With Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's decision to stay in the Democratic race to the bitter end, she has signaled a delegate fight all the way to the party's convention in Denver this August.

Political strategists have concluded that Clinton cannot overcome Sen. Barack Obama's pledged delegate lead by winning additional primaries.

And despite his lead in electoral and delegate wins, Obama cannot seal his nomination without the support of the party's superdelegates.

Clinton's decision, after winning in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island this week that she would not capitulate has opened up the first skirmishes in a looming Democratic civil war.

Already the intraparty battle described by the Boston Globe as "trench warfare" has cost the Democrats a whopping $275 million. The war has no end in sight and is shaping up to be a take-no-prisoner's battle.

Cash: Both sides are now swimming with the ammunition that politicians need to wage war. Obama announced this week that he raised a stunning $55 million in February. Clinton hasn't matched those numbers, but she is playing catch-up. Since Tuesday, she raked in a cool $3 million.

'Monster' Hillary: Obama foreign policy aide Samantha Power told Britain's Scotsman that Clinton is "a monster . . . she is stooping to anything" and described her circle as being on the "warpath."

Ken Starr: Clinton's campaign lashed out at Obama Thursday, accusing him of becoming another "Ken Starr" because he promised to be more criticial of his opponent. The Obama campaign has complained Clinton has dragged her feat in releasing her tax returns and her documents as first lady.

Florida and Michigan. Both the Obama and Clinton camps are deadlocked on the matter of the Florida and Michigan delegates. Party Chairman Howard Dean says he wants a new vote in those states but he won't use party money to pay for it. That benefits Obama, because Clinton would have likely won those states in a re-vote. If Dean and the Obama can keep the current slate of Florida and Michigan delegates off the convention floor, Clinton's position is further undermined.

Black Revolt: Influential African-Americans like Donna Brazile, Al Sharpton and former Virginia Gov. Douglas Wilder are warning that the Democratic Party may be fractured and crippled if it does not abide by the will of the pledged delegates in picking the nominee.

Meanwhile, the fraternal struggle among Democrats may be netting Republicans support.

Former Bush strategist Karl Rove notes Thursday in The Wall Street Journal "the interesting electoral phenomenon is the emergence of the 'McCainicrats' Democrats backing Mr. McCain."

Rove continued: "In three recent polls, (Fox, LA Times/Bloomberg and Gallup), almost twice as many Democrats support Mr. McCain as Republicans support Mr. Obama. Three times as many Democrats support Mr. McCain as Republicans back Mrs. Clinton."

Story Here
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Boy did Howard Dean Screw the Pooch on this one. What a friggen mess. Why should Florida and Michigan pay for a do-over election and mess created by the Democrats to begin with? Well Hillary and Obama can rip each other to shreds for all I care, we have our Nominee. And I heard this morning some people are going to jump off the Obama ship and Vote for McCain should he become the Nominee. Slug it out you guy's, this is just entertainment at this point!
Unless of course they go on the same ticket....then there is no chance for McCain...unless he picks Jesus Christ for VP.
We have a long way to go. Remember 2 months ago when all the right-wingers were ripping John McCain? Hmmmm...
A lot can change in a short amount of time.
The Michigan/Florida thing is easy. They agreed to something and now they want to change the rules. Too bad.
Hillary is just pissed that Obama "got in the way" of her supposed coronation.
Marie, you make me laugh. You still haven't addressed how you're going to overcome the 3-1 ratio at the polls. As many "friends" as you say were going to vote for Obama and now are going to vote for McCain (which I believe that number is microscopic) there are as many that I have, if not double, that have re-registered as Democrats who were staunch Republicans.
And you're down to 1 candidate! If something were to come out about him, something terrible in his past....that would be pretty bad since you don't have a plan B.
I like our chances. But then again, if people think the last 8 years have been stellar, then they should vote for McSame. But that would be around 29%...and I don't think that is enough to win an election (unlike in 2000).
Federalist,
LMAO! You cant be serious!
I think Jesus isnt available this year.
Oh yeah alot can change alright, more name calling and mudslinging between the two, I dont see this thing between Obama and Hillary wrapping up any time soon! As a matter of fact I think it's going to be a brokered convention!
The Michigan/Florida thing is easy. They agreed to something and now they want to change the rules. Too bad.
Hillary is just pissed that Obama "got in the way" of her supposed coronation.
You think Hillary is going to sit still for this? And what about the Florida/Michigan voters? Thier votes arent going to count?
There are going to be lawsuits beyond belief! They are going to claim disenfranchisement sure as hell if thier votes arent counted!
And this time the shoe will be on the other foot. Democrat voters disenfranchised by Democrats? Holy Cow!!
If you cant see what's coming down the pike, I dont know what to tell you.
Marie, you make me laugh. You still haven't addressed how you're going to overcome the 3-1 ratio at the polls. I didnt say "Freinds" I said I "heard", I just didnt mention I heard this on the radio, the guy who is sitting in for Rush today, I cant remember his name.
I dont know where you are coming up with this 3-1 ratio thing! Where is that coming from?
Glad I make ya laugh though :-)
And you're down to 1 candidate! If something were to come out about him, something terrible in his past....that would be pretty bad since you don't have a plan B.
Geez, how many candidates do we need? Anything that was ever going to come out about McCain would have come out in 2000 when Bush beat the crap out of him. Now they are buddies lol
And most people I know, for instance Mike, from MikesAmerica even say's he's burying the hatchet and voting for McCain, so our base is beginning to come together behind McCain for the good of the party! I dont think we need a plan {B}!
You guy's on the other hand are in complete turmoil!
Who would have ever seen this coming?
I like our chances. But then again, if people think the last 8 years have been stellar, then they should vote for McSame. But that would be around 29%...and I don't think that is enough to win an election (unlike in 2000).
I like your chances also lol, it's almost nill.
By the time these two get through with each other, they arent going to want each other on each other's ticket!
Heavens to Betsy!
This is a true mess for you guy's i just hope it all work's out without to much bloodshed!
Speaking of fund raising...
F.B.I. Investigates
Missing G.O.P. Money
By PHILIP SHENON
Published: March 6, 2008
WASHINGTON — Hundreds of thousands of dollars are missing and presumed stolen from the chief fund-raising arm of House Republicans, according to party officials who described the findings of emergency internal audits.
The financial records of the group, the National Republican Congressional Committee, may also have been falsified for several years, Republican officials said. The campaign committees of several Republican lawmakers may also have been victims of a scam that is now under criminal investigation by the F.B.I.
The audits were ordered after the abrupt departure several weeks ago of Christopher J. Ward, who had been treasurer of the committee. Lawmakers said that Mr. Ward, who served a similar role for dozens of individual members of Congress and their political committees, is the focus of the F.B.I.’s criminal investigation.
The committee has acknowledged publicly that it was aware of “irregularities in our financial audit process” and that it had called in the F.B.I. in February because “these irregularities may include fraud.”
But until now the committee has not acknowledged that any money was missing from its bank accounts or that the financial irregularities might extend beyond the national committee to the campaign funds of individual Republican lawmakers who also worked with Mr. Ward, a longtime party operative.
The Republican officials said they could not discuss the details of their findings on the record because of the continuing criminal investigation.
A lawyer for Mr. Ward, Ronald C. Machen of the Wilmer Hale law firm in Washington, had no comment. A spokeswoman for the F.B.I.’s Washington field office acknowledged that the bureau had opened an investigation at the request of the Republican committee.
The F.B.I. investigation comes at an especially awkward time for House Republicans, who are struggling to raise money for Congressional races in November.
Their job has been made even more difficult by the large number of Republican lawmakers — more than two dozen from the House — who have announced their retirements, and by a series of unrelated criminal and ethics investigations of other Congressional Republicans.
Mr. Ward had been treasurer of the national Republican committee since 2003. He had also been a partner in a private campaign consulting firm, Political Compliance Services, that gained notice in the 2004 presidential campaign because of its work on behalf of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that ran advertisements that criticized the military record of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democratic presidential nominee.
Committee officials said that bookkeeping irregularities were discovered in January after the chairman of the panel’s auditing committee, Representative Mike Conaway of Texas, a certified public accountant, repeatedly asked to meet with representatives of the audit firm that was supposed to be reviewing the committee’s books.
“I just kept insisting that we meet with the auditors,” Mr. Conaway said in an interview. “It finally came into my head, and as the circumstances unfolded, that no audit had been done.”
He said that Mr. Ward had promised to set up a meeting with the auditors and scheduled the gathering in late January.
But 30 minutes before the scheduled meeting, committee officials said, Mr. Ward sent an e-mail message to colleagues announcing that, in fact, no audit had been done. The officials said the fund-raising committee had since determined that its books had not been audited since 2003 and that Mr. Ward had submitted a series of falsified audits. The committee then called in the F.B.I. It is not clear, lawmakers said, if any fees were paid to audit firms in recent years by the committee, or where that money ended up.
“This was a longtime trusted employee and there were no obvious signs that he was living beyond his means,” Mr. Conaway said.
Mr. Conaway said that the many Republican lawmakers who used Mr. Ward for their campaign funds or for bookkeeping for their political action committees were now hurriedly reviewing their own books for evidence of missing money or other improprieties.
“If you were one of the members who had a relationship with him, you should go back through your records extensively to see if you were caught up,” he said.
Committee officials said that at least two Republican lawmakers who were clients of Mr. Ward’s had reported to the committee in recent weeks that they had also found discrepancies in their campaign accounts.
Representative Rodney Alexander, Republican of Louisiana, said he ended his ties to Mr. Ward in February after learning of the concerns at the national committee. “Until then, we hadn’t seen anything to indicate there was a problem,” Mr. Alexander said, adding that his bookkeepers had found no evidence of missing money or other wrongdoing.
Mr. Ward was named treasurer of the national Republican committee five years ago by Representative Thomas M. Reynolds of New York, who stepped down as the committee’s chairman last year. Mr. Reynolds has found himself under attack on the campaign trail at home because of the reports of financial irregularities at the committee.
“Does Tom Reynolds ever accept responsibility for his poor leadership or does he just pass the buck?” asked John Gerken, campaign manager for Jon Powers, a Democrat who is challenging Mr. Reynolds.
Mr. Reynolds said in a statement that he and the national Republican committee were possible victims of “an elaborate scheme resulting in financial irregularities” by a “long-serving professional staff member,” a reference to Mr. Ward. “At no time were there any red flags raised,” the lawmaker said.
Yikes! Can your party handle yet another scandal????
How does Clinton overcome a 49 percent negative rating? How does Obama win with only a 13 percent black population and a 75 percent white population that is becoming more and more hostile to an Obamanation day after day with every word Michelle Obama utters?
This is fun watching democrats tear each other to shreds and over race too! democrats have called republicans racist, bigoted, homophobes for years but they are the real bigots and racists. Every day this goes on the Clintons reveal what racists that they are and how they appeal to white voters by a whisper campaign in code,"you can't vote for him, he's black" in hushed tones looking over their shoulder to make sure blacks aren't listening to the conversation.
The blacks are fed up with the Clintons suggesting Obama is nothing more than a black guy and portray him being darker than he is in the most recent campaign ad. You see, unlike most elitist liberal types (eh hem) I live in an integrated neighborhood and work in an integrated workplace and have direct contact with most of the different races and religions and have no problem dealing with people that are different. democrats feign all those things but in private seek to undermine and keep blacks and other minorities in their place and on the government dole to keep them under control. Working blacks don't fall for that crap and see through that shallow veneer and are quite tired of it. "the liberal white" is a term that most of my black friends use in not so friendly or congenial terms anymore. They look upon "the liberal white" as THE problem and not the solution. The Clintons are feeding that attitude that has been there for quite some time and quite frankly, I really do think of liberals as the most bigoted people(except for the klan and nazis that live about 50 miles south west of here on the Maryland Pennsylvania border) I have run across in my life. I have plenty of reason to say it too.
Federalist,
And this is suppose to mean????????????
It seems the Republicans called in the FBI to investigate the money missing, but then again they cant account for any money missing.
If this Ward guy is is responsible for some money being missing I'm sure he will get investigated and whatever happens, happens.
I havent heard alot about this so I'm not sure this is that big of a deal.
As far as scandals, can your party take any more?
Hillary, Obama, Resco, Hsu, William "Frozen Assets" Jefferson, Sandy Burglar, Hastings, etc...
You dont want to really go there with scandals do you? I can name PLENTY on your side of the isle as well :-)
Face it, your party is not above scandals either, as a matter of fact your party has been rivited with scandals since the 60's and earlier.
John and Robert Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, Teddy, Mary Jo and Chappaquidick, Robert KKK Byrd, Barney (Running Male Prostitudes from out of his house) Frank, Clinton and Lewinsky, oh the list goes on and on.
I dont think it's wise to be a hypocrite at this particular moment in time do you?
Obob,
Me either, break out the popcorn, it's going to be a wild soap opera election season lol
Jenn,
Perfect analyses :-)
That is the way the Democrats play the game, keep the minorities hooked on Government entitlements so they have no hope of succeeding any further in thier lives.
Like Michelle Obama said earlier this week to Obama supporters "Dont go into corporate America"!
How oppressive is that?
Eliot Spitzer, Democrat governor of New York, involved in prostitution ring!
Here's what he should do: call David Vitter for advice, denounce his own actions as morally reprehensible, cry on TV and then claim that he has reconciled everything with "his" God and therefore should not be punished criminally.
How does that sound???
Big difference: there was no spin! He admitted to it. Shame on him and he should only hope his family forgives him.
He should get the Vitter playbook out: find God, cry and say there's no need to talk about it because your God has already forgiven you, right?
He could also take out the Gary Hart, McGreivy, Condit playbook and either swear he had nothing to do with it (Even thow the FBI knows he was involved) or the old crying routine.
Yeah shame on him. Will he get the same treatment Craig did?
How many times did McSame mix up the militant groups in his press briefing today? 4? And finally, of all people, Lieberman comes to his rescue! LOL...it was either a severe senior moment or McSame really has no clue what is going on in Iraq.
Either way, he's clueless when it comes to specifics in the Middle East. Sunni, Shia, al-Qaeda, insurgents...hell, they're all the same to him.
Marie, is this what you're referring to when you say that "McCain has more experience"???
Wow...that experience is dangerous.
