The New York Slimes Has Sunk As Low As They Can Go

Does'nt this sound like Dan Rathergate All Over Again? I'm about fed up with this nonsense, and have kept my mouth shut about this long enough. Here's a *snip* from a story I read today.

Bob Bennett Slams NY Times Hit Job on McCain

The New York Times said that McCain and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, denied the Times innuendo that they had engaged in a romantic relationship.

The liberal New York Times is wasting no time in smearing John McCain, the Republican Party nominee for President.

Late Wednesday, the Times published to its website a story set to hit print editions Thursday, linking McCain to a female lobbyist. The paper suggested the Arizona Senator has been engaged in an illicit relationship.

"A female lobbyist had been turning up with him at fund-raisers, visiting his offices and accompanying him on a client’s corporate jet," the Times reported. "Convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself — instructing staff members to block the woman’s access, privately warning her away and repeatedly confronting him, several people involved in the campaign said on the condition of anonymity."

Noted Democratic attorney Robert Bennett appeared on Fox News Wednesday night and called the Times report nothing more than a "real hit job."

Is This What They Are Affraid Of?

Bennett, brother of conservative pundit Bill Bennett, had served as private counsel to President Bill Clinton in the 1990s during the Paula Jones scandal.

The Times said that McCain, 71, and the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, 40, denied the Times innuendo that they had engaged in a romantic relationship or that McCain had done favors for Iseman. The Times alleged that McCain had written letters to government regulators on behalf of Iseman.

Though McCain has had a reputation as an independent and maverick U.S. Senator who has championed ethic and campaign finance reform, the Times story painted a different picture.

Though last year McCain had voted to end the practice of lawmakers using private jets paid for by those lobbying Congress, the Times said McCain had used the private planes of billionaires Rupert Murdoch and Michael R. Bloomberg, as well as one of Iseman’s clients.

The paper also dredged up McCain's role in the infamous S&L scandal and his collaboration with banker Charles Keating. McCain was named a member of the so-called "Keating Five."

A Senate Ethic Committee probe found that McCain was only guilty of “poor judgment” in the affair. Bennett noted that he served as the Democratic counsel to the committee investigating the five U.S. Senators. Bennett said he concluded that McCain was an "an honest man."

He added that Times report was "shameless" and slammed the paper for publishing the story, which he described as "entirely unsourced."

This is so damn rediculous. There is no There, There. Unsubstantiated Claims, Anonymous sources, not a single soul who can claim ANY of this is true. How about Barack Obama's donor who is about to go to jail? How about Hillary's donor Shue that IS in jail? How about Sandy Berger who SHOULD be in jail? Just when you think the New York Slimes cant sink any lower, SURPRISE!!!

You just can't trust the media...like when Fox News reported that Barrack Obama is Muslim: no sources, no facts. Or when Rush used the fake General Giap letter to get at Kerry in 2004 and then they use it again in 2007 for the anti-war movement. Amazing what they get away with these days!

I think that the NYT may have screwed up and done McCain a favor, Marie. Now the far-right talk-show hosts, like Limbaugh, are now taking McCain's side and slamming the NYT's! LOL! This is backfiring on them. Serves them right!

Gayle hit the nail on the head.

Karl Rove is genius. Look at how many of you on here were blasting McCain two weeks ago for not being conservative enough. You began to support him with hesitation. Now it seems as though you would protect him like a mother would her child.

How's that political move for galvanizing support for a not-so-attractive conservative candidate?

Marie,

Yeah...LOL...or like when Fox News reported that the San Diego wildfires were set by al-Qaeda! What a scream!

Or when they first reported William Jefferson had $90,000 in his oven and it turned out to be wrapped in foil in his freezer, that was a hoot!

I said I don't like John McCain. The liberal press is going to pump him up and then knock him off his horse then they wiil throw their full support behind a platitude spouting socialist (that could be any democrat) in their own image.

I always liked the one when NBC planted the model rocket engines on the Chevy truck and ran a car into the side of the Chevy truck and ignited the rocket engines to make the truck blow up to prove that side saddle gas tanks were dangerous. Now that's spectacular reporting.

Then there was the release of classified information by the NY Times that told al qaeda where to shoot US soldiers because of the body armor design. Excellent patriotic stuff.

This thing has actually boosted McCain's standing with voters, especially with Democrats like Bennett and Maney come to his defense.

BTW where did you find this anonymouse dude. He is a real nut job. Congrats for ruffling liberal feathers!

J_G,

I hear ya! Like when Fox News falsely reported that Christian flyer from Oakland, CA was punished as "hate speech" and that the suit was a "discrimination suit against family values"...I tell ya, the media can't even accurately report what day it is.

My favorite one, though, is when Bill O'Reilly reported that the 15 year old boy who was held captive for 4 years (starting at age 11) in Missouri by that pizza parlor manager, and was sexually abused and held against his will, that the boy ENJOYED it and that it was more FUN than he was having at home.

But we have to remember that people like Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly...they're just entertainers, not news people.

But we have to remember that people like Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly...they're just entertainers, not news people.

All those people are political commentators and espouse their opinions of the news and check whether the news that's reported is actually accurate.

Those others that have been mentioned are sloppy, dishonest and idealogically driven supposed hard news jornalists. There is a huge difference and that's the problem with our News and Journalism today. They don't seem to able able to report the news accurately or responsibly. They have special protections granted to them in the first amendment of the Constitution but they are abusing their position to push a liberal political agenda when they leak classified information that is harmful to the security of the troops and the nation. At one time they would have been tried for treason for such abuse.

The New York Times has lost it's once highly regarded position with Americans because it has fallen into disrepute because of it's problems with accuracy and honesty. The evening newsreaders have gotten their lead stories from the top fold of the New York Times for so long that when the Times becomes even more irrelevant so will the the evening newsrepeaters.

These days, the NYT belongs on display at supermarket checkouts, right beside the National Enquirer.

The sales competition would be tough, what with the narrow margin between the accuracy of the two.

I know Jenn,

I can real 'em in cant I? lol

I have come to the conclusion that McCain is just going to have to do what I want him to do or he will hear from me on a daily basis.

Or Coburn my Senator who is so fond of McCain will be hearing from me on a daily basis also!

These people work for us damnit!
