The only chance of McCain winning is if he chooses someone who is a strong conservative. Condi Rice maybe. Maybe one of the conservative governors but I doubt many of them would give up their time now to run with McCain. How about John Bolton former ambassador to UN? Even though Joe Lieberman has the correct stance on the war on terror in Iraq, the rest of his record is completely leftist and that would further alienate whats left of the shaky republican coalition. I would also be more confident if McCain said he would give up his Seante seat to run for president.

Thoug I like leiberman on the war he is still a lib otherwise and McCain will not pick him if he has any brains and understands that he needs someone to get the backing of the Conservatives in the GOP.

That is why I have never really taken the idea of Lieberman seriously because McCain has been around to long to take a VEEp whose candidacy will slit his throat. That combined with Lieberman already being a losing Veep candidate is also another nail in this coffins possibilities.

Leiberman is out of the question. And I would not like to see him picked at all..
However, I think that McCain has a very good chance of winning, my pick would be Haley Barbour, Jim DeMint,Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney or maybe even out of left field Condi Rice.
I know I've given a lot of choices but I'll stick with Haley Barbour

Jenn,

I was listening to one of those focus group things on Hannity and Colmbs lastnight and alot of Hillary supporters said if Hillary didnt get the nomination, they were voting for McCain in November because just like me I guess, National Security, Foreign Policy Experience, our Troops, and the War On Terror are first and foremost on thier minds!

I just like Lieberman and I thought that might be a good choice.

I think that the Hillary supporters won’t vote for Obama and the Obama supports won’t vote for Hillary So McCain has a great chance to pick a lot of them up.

McCain needs the crossover voters from the disenchanted democrats and he will get them. So he can’t afford to pick a VP that is to Conservative.
I know that the Conservatives won’t like that, but that’s the way it is. He has to pick a moderate. A good choice may be a Women. I’m not to sure about that yet.

No Lieberman. I can't take four years of hearing the voice of Elmer Fudd. Don't get me wrong, Elmer Fudd is a fine actor, I just can't listen to his voice for long.

MICHEAL STEELE. Consevative, right credentials, experience, successful, black.

IMHO, vp choice has little effect on voters. But, given McCain's age, it will be more important.
It will be a rock/hardplace decision, because a strong conservative will lose him any crossover/independent support, while the converse holds true for someone like Lieberman. Condi Rice is not the social conservative you like to think, could pull women and blacks. I can't wait to see..

I think BB is right. I agreed with BB! Even though we're friends, it doesn't happen too often! :)

I'm anxious to see who he will pick too, Marie, but McCain has several months to make that decision, and I think he'll take his time, which means we're going to have to be patient.

If he picks the Liebster, I'm going independent. I can't see the party going that liberal and surviving.
