Pakistan Rebel Mosque Leader Killed
The leader of the rebel mosque being stormed by Commandos in Islamabad has been killed, according to the Pakistan government.
Abdul Rashid GhaziAbdul Rashid Ghazi is said to have died in heavy fighting at the Lal Masjid compound.
Javed Iqbal Cheema, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, confirmed Ghazi's death, saying he died in a gunbattle alongside militants in the basement of a religious school linked to the mosque.
He said the cleric's body was still lying in the compound, and that "battle hardened" militants were defending themselves.
The fighting has already left some 50 militants and eight soldiers dead.
Commandos stormed the facility before dawn when last-ditch efforts to negotiate a surrender failed.
More than 13 hours later, troops were still trying to root out the defenders who are reportedly armed with rocket-launchers and machine guns.
Army spokesman General Waheed Arshad said: "Militants are taking positions in almost every room, they're fighting from room-to-room, they have positions in the basement."
"There are women and children who are in the complex and we are taking a step-by-step approach to ensure there's no collateral damage unnecessarily," he added.
A witness said those inside the compound were under "massive bombing and gunfire. This is indiscriminate killing ... There are dead bodies everywhere".
Pakistani troops at the siege a city official said as many as 50 women and 27 children have got out of the facility. It was unclear how many hostages were still being held.
A further 51 militants have reportedly surrendered or been captured.
Sky News producer Chiade O'Shea, in Islamabad, said militants planted booby-traps, as they retreated through the compound.
She added troops were using dynamite to blast their way into some of the rooms where defenders had fortified doors.
The commandos moved in a week after the outbreak of fighting between security forces and supporters of hard-line clerics at the mosque.
The religious leaders had tried to impose Taliban-style rule in the capital through a six-month campaign of kidnappings and threats.

Let us not forget how really MAD Al-Queada will be over this and let us not forget Pakistan has "The Bomb", so we better brace ourselves for something bad to happen after this Victory in the Global War On Terror. It is just so sweet every time one of these Radical Islamo Nutballs goes down. Boy if the entire world got onboard with beating this Barbaric enemy, we could have this whole thing over in a year or two.

I am holding my breath on this one, this is a bit more serious I think than any of us realize just because of "The Bomb" Factor.

I was just reading about this today in my local paper. What I was most impressed with that I will probably post is a quote from the former leader who said that we can't appease these people anymore. Exactly!! I will get ya linked up when I do it.
Let's hope that Musharraf doesn't back off after this and is strong enough to go all the way.
It would be nice to see him go back to Waziristan and finish the job he started there and finally get bin Laden.
That's asking a lot, but at some point he either kills these people or they will kill him and come after us.

This one is a bit scary to me, especially with the audio of that Zawahiri Nutball now calling for Jihad on Pakistan.
I mean we know for sure Pakistan has a Nuclear Bomb, Iran may be close but we dont know for sure yet, I think we need to keep an eye on this situation very closely!

I seriously think they are going to try thier damndest to kill Musharraf this time.
I'm not sure those freaks are even in Waziristan anymore, and in a previous post I did months ago, I have a feeling that Taliban funeral in Afghanistan that we didnt fire on was Bin Laden's.
I know it isnt wise for me to surmise that Bin Laden is dead, but even if we know for sure he is, I doubt we will say a word about it because that will just set off all these other cells that arent activated yet.
I wonder if we didnt fire on that Funeral for a reason!
Maybe we snuck on over to that sight of the burial, dug up the body, grabbed some DNA, tested it, and found out it is Bin Laden.
Just a thought but I cant fathom any other reason why we wouldnt have fired on that Funeral.
It's just odd to me that we havent heard from Bin Laden, and only Zawahiri in a few years. Just my guess about all that.
