Boycott NBC and General Electric/This Troop Bashing Has Got To Stop
William Arkin over at NBC claims to be a Military Analyst, what he really is, is a piss poor excuse for a human being. What this Moron seems to forget is that the Soldiers and Veterans have fought for his right to spew his hatred for them. Maybe this idiot should be writing for "The Huffington Post" instead of "The Washington Post". Until someone over at General Electric (Owner of NBC) straightens out or fires this Lunatic, I wont even buy a Light Bulb from GE. "Nutball" with Chris Matthews and "Wackjob" with Keith Olberman must be proud!

Here is the Moron's Ramblings
I've been mulling over an NBC Nightly News report from Iraq last Friday in which a number of soldiers expressed frustration with opposition to war in the United States.
I'm sure the soldiers were expressing a majority opinion common amongst the ranks - that's why it is news - and I'm also sure no one in the military leadership or the administration put the soldiers up to expressing their views, nor steered NBC reporter Richard Engel to the story.
I'm all for everyone expressing their opinion, even those who wear the uniform of the United States Army. But I also hope that military commanders took the soldiers aside after the story and explained to them why it wasn't for them to disapprove of the American people.
Friday's NBC Nightly News included a story from my colleague and friend Richard Engel, who was embedded with an active duty Army infantry battalion from Fort Lewis, Washington.
Engel relayed how "troops here say they are increasingly frustrated by American criticism of the war. Many take it personally, believing it is also criticism of what they've been fighting for."
First up was 21 year old junior enlisted man Tyler Johnson, whom Engel said was frustrated about war skepticism and thinks that critics "should come over and see what it's like firsthand before criticizing."
"You may support or say we support the troops, but, so you're not supporting what they do, what they're here sweating for, what we bleed for, what we die for. It just don't make sense to me," Johnson said.
Next up was Staff Sergeant Manuel Sahagun, who is on his second tour in Iraq. He complained that "one thing I don't like is when people back home say they support the troops, but they don't support the war. If they're going to support us, support us all the way."
Next was Specialist Peter Manna: "If they don't think we're doing a good job, everything that we've done here is all in vain," he said.
These soldiers should be grateful (Hold on a second, Our Soldiers Should be Grateful?) that the American public, which by all polls overwhelmingly disapproves of the Iraq war and the President's handling of it, do still offer their support to them, and their respect.
Through every Abu Ghraib and Haditha, through every rape and murder, the American public has indulged those in uniform, accepting that the incidents were the product of bad apples or even of some administration or command order.(Indulged? You mean made sure these stories hit the front page of the New York Times?)
Sure, it is the junior enlisted men who go to jail. But even at anti-war protests, (I thought they were now calling them "Peace Protests") the focus is firmly on the White House and the policy. We don't see very many "baby killer" epithets being thrown around these days, no one in uniform is being spit upon. (Tell that to JOSHUA SPARLING, IRAQ WAR VETERAN, spit on at the latest "Peace Protest")
So, we pay the soldiers a decent wage, take care of their families, provide them with housing and medical care and vast social support systems and ship obscene amenities into the war zone for them, we support them in every possible way, and their attitude is that we should in addition roll over and play dead, defer to the military and the generals and let them fight their war, and give up our rights and responsibilities to speak up because they are above society? (Real Nice Asshole)
I can imagine some post-9/11 moment, when the American people say enough already with the wars against terrorism and those in the national security establishment feel these same frustrations. In my little parable, those in leadership positions shake their heads that the people don't get it, that they don't understand that the threat from terrorism, while difficult to defeat, demands commitment and sacrifice and is very real because it is so shadowy, that the very survival of the United States is at stake. Those Hoovers and Nixons will use these kids in uniform as their soldiers. If it weren't about the United States, I'd say the story would end with a military coup where those in the know, and those with fire in their bellies, would save the nation from the people. ( How about YOU go to Iraq Akin, because you are NOT in the know )
But it is the United States, and the recent NBC report is just an ugly reminder of the price we pay for a mercenary - oops sorry, volunteer - force that thinks it is doing the dirty work. ( Mercenary? )
The notion of dirty work is that, like laundry, it is something that has to be done but no one else wants to do it. But Iraq is not dirty work: it is not some necessary endeavor; the people just don't believe that anymore. (Not everyone agrees with or sees things the way you do Moron)
I'll accept that the soldiers, in order to soldier on, have to believe that they are manning the parapet, and that's where their frustrations come in. I'll accept as well that they are young and naïve and are frustrated with their own lack of progress and the never changing situation in Iraq. Cut off from society and constantly told that everyone supports them, no wonder the debate back home confuses them. (Oh I think the Troops are alot more intelligent than you lead people to believe and are deffinately NOT confused, they know what's going on over here with the Liberal Lunatics jackass!! The Troops proved how much they know about what's going on over here with that fantastic sign they made for John Kerry when he said "If you dont keep yourself educated, you get stuck in Iraq". Spare us, the Troops are more intelligent than you will ever be.)
America needs to ponder what it is we really owe those in uniform.(Try your freedom for starters) I don't believe America needs a draft though I imagine we'd be having a different discussion if we had one. (Maybe America needs to ponder the fact that Liberals arent supporting anything but thier own agenda and Nutjobs like you need to be squashed!)

Is there any wonder why the American public is losing support for the war? With morons like this reporting and taking frustration by soldiers directed toward this lakc of support and the whennies in Congress who do the same and twisting it to make it sound like they are fed up with the war and their part init is insane. Then to top it off actually telling the soldiers they should be grateful for the protests against them trying to insinuate that it could save their lives when it has just the opposite effect is lunacy at its worst!
By the way I don't watch NBC anyway so I'm already boycotting. Ha. They haven't had much of interest especially news wise since Huntley/Brinkley and the cancellation of Star Trek, Bonanza and The Wonderful World of Disney. Boy this comment dates me doesn't it??!!
I read about this the other day and was so angry and it was a part of my anger when commenting on the previous post.
Mrs. Green asked where do you think my anger comes from? A: IT COMES FROM HAVING TO PUT UP WITH TRAITOROUS LIBERAL MORONS AND THE PEOPLE THAT FOLLOW AND BELIEVE THEIR BULLSHIT!
I haven't listened to or watched anything to do with NBC for many years. There are longer the three blind mice of Jennings, Brokaw and Rather to laugh at anymore so networks are out. Katy Couric and all the rest are so incredibly irrelevent I don't know why I bother to even mention them. MSNBC? Chris Mathews, Keith Olberman? I betcha there are more people using toilets at the time their assinine programs are on the air and too busy to listen to their constant whining.
General Electric is something else though. You can go through your house and work place and find quite a few things that have the famous GE logo on it. The best thing you can do is write to the board members, Chairman and CEO. You must let them know that you are completely disgusted at their own news organization's attempt to besmirch and assasinate the character of our brave men and women in uniform.
Remind them that those men and women fight so they can have a job selling military equipment to our government. Oh yes, General Electric sells a lot of equipment to our military; jet engines, ship's propulsion engines, eletrical systems and many other major components that make them huge profits. All of which we, as American taxpayer pay for.
If you have a democrat Senator or Representative you may want to write to them but I suspect in the near future that many of them will be engaging in the smae rhetoric assasinating the character of the troops as Sentors John Kerry and Edward Moore Kennedy did during Vietnam, check on that and see if you can name the the Senator, clue:(from Massachusetts)that popularized the phrase "babykiller" during the Vietnam war.
Hi Marie,
Boycott NBC and General Electric/This Troop Bashing Has Got To Stop
That's no problem for me, I have never liked NBC or General Electric Products.
As far as I am concerned I don't even put William Arkin in the same category as a human being, he is much more like a RAT or should I say RAT-FINK.
J_G Wrote: You can go through your house and work place and find quite a few things that have the famous GE logo on it.
Not in my house hold there isn't, I purchase Phillips products and or other products in place of GE.
Yeah well that's good Night Rdier but where I work I have this huge problem. The locomotives I am in charge of have this great big emblem on them and it appears to say GE. All of the electrical systems and tranformers we use have the same emblem on them.
Have you flown lately? If you were on a Boeing aircraft the emblem on the engine plate 9 times out 10 are going to read GE. Boycotting GE is not going to work at the consumer level. You must contact your nearest Republican representative and demand that GE do something about their news outlets denigrating our troops. Write the White House and demand the President make some hey of it.
Freedom of speech is fine and I have no problem if someone wants to say things I don't agree with because I will show you where you are wrong.
I don't think that taxpayers should have to pay to listen to people like William Arkins spout his hateful speech.
This is all out war with the left and no quarter will be given. Sorry Mrs. Green you'll have to don flak jacket and helmut and pick up an M-16 this is war and you have chosen your side.
Ken,
Actually the more Morons like this spew thier crud at our Troops it's making me grow ever closer to them.
I truly wish I could join them, but I cant, so I am doing all I can do on the Home Front!
This Guy should be "Grateful" he doesnt get his ass kicked on his way to work.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Haha yeah you dated yourself on this one.
Ah Bonanza, those were the days.
JG,
I am wondering if there is another hidden agenda here maybe like to see how pissed off the Republicans can get before they do something really drastic.
I'll tell ya, it's working!
I am having terribly bad thought's that shouldnt be entering my mind about some things I could do that I shouldnt.
That's why I am wondering if they have some freaky agenda going on here.
About the GE stuff you are correct they do supply alot of things to the Military, but you know what? I dont have to buy any of it. And guess what I am doing? I am checking labels all over my house for anything with G. Friggen E. on it. And OUT it's going!
Right on the front of this story up towards the top is G.E.'s email and snail mail addy's. When I find a phone number I will post it.
I dont know where they drug this F***tard up from, but he has to go and we should all write and call GE and make damn sure this happens!
Night,
I dont watch NBC either but there must be some Morons out there still clinging to those losers that might want to know what's going on.
I was watching them if a plane was trying to land with landing gear problems, they had better coverage of that kind of stuff, but now if the plane crashes or lands safely I guess I will find out about it some other way.
As for GE products JG is right they are EVERYWHERE! But that can easily be fixed with a trash can unless it's like a washer or something you might need to get up a little money before switching, but it can be done.
But if GE gets rid of this idiot the whole problem can be solved.
Your right I should change him from the human category.
I thought "Piss poor excuse" for one sounded appropriate but I might need to change it.
Either way we all need to write that email addy on the front of this story! And tell GE what we think of this Loon.
JG,
You are right, but I am so damn mad I cant think or see straight.
I guess the most effective way to deal with this is to call GE and write them.
But I am still getting rid of my household GE stuff if I find any.
I just dont know right now I am shaking mad.
Marie, don't get yourself so worked up over this moron. The Conservatives will ignore or censure him, and the Liberals will say nothing. They give him approval with their silence, but so what? No right thinking American gives two cents what they think.
Mark,
I cant help it.
That's the problem. I think silence is NOT so Golden at this point in time.
This constant Troop bashing while we are in the middle of a war, while we have an ALL VOLUNTEER MILITARY, is really making me mad as hell!
What? No pithy "its all a bunch of right-winger lies and paranoia" comment from Mrs. Green?
I'm shocked,...SHOCKED!
;)
All the more interesting is the major money GE has made as a military contractor; for example miniguns(those electronic Gatling guns used aboard U.S. military helicopters) and the jet engines in the F-117 Stealth fighter are both of GE manufacture.
Mrs. Green got mad at me over at my blog because she misread what I said about Jim Webb being either stupid or corrupt.
I'm damn mad at all this crap starting about going after the troops. Arkin is just the beginning just as it was when Kerry started popularizing calling the troops "baby killers" during Vietnam.
I had a dream last night that I was beating the crap out of William Arkin with a 2x4. I hate when that kind of stuff happens but that's how strong I feel and now the dems are testing the water with that way of proceeding with this Arkin guy leading the way. It started in Pelosi's district and it's going to spread unless we put stop to it.
O'Reilly pointed out that in all the news reports about Arkin he is rarely if ever identified as a far left loonie.
"News" stories about conservatives always label them as such.
But of course the "news" media doesn't feel the need to label lefties as they consider them mainstream like themselves.
P.S. Marie: You inspired me to do this on Pelosi and Planegate:
http://mikesamerica.blogspot.com/2007/02/this-broom-isnt-big-enough.html
Dear Marie
I love stopping by because you are a straight talker with a good sense of humor! And you nail it everytime!
Trek,
Not on this thread I dont even think Mrs Green could possibly defend this shameless crud!
Seth,
Well we got GE so far to condemn this Luantics statements, but not NBC, is it any wonder?
JG,
They are testing the waters alright, and trying our patience, this has to be some ploy to see just how much we can take before we snap!
Mike,
I have noticed that! And when something in the "News" doesnt go the lefties way, they say "I thought there was left wing bias, what happened to that"? Yeah right!
What they really mean is "Dammit, there is nothing we can get the President or the Troops on today, and the media isnt ripping them to shreds, so there must not be any Left Wing Bias"! Freaks
Kris,
Thank You! I tend to get pretty riled up when it comes to the Troops.
I dunno, Marie. Mrs. Green managed to spend close to 20 posts in a nearby thread defending Senator Kennedy and the voters of Massachusetts without actually addressing the question of why she thought the City of Boston's response to the marketing stunt was excessive.
When you come right down to it, liberals don't have much to say once you get past the name-calling, the "Bush lied" and the "nyahh, nyahh, nyahh" that they like to substitute for argument.
LOL Uncle P,
And you handled her brilliatly as always :-)
