MURTHA! Debate This Woman! Or Are You Cutting And Running From Her Too?
IREY LAUDS SIGNING OF MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT, ASKS: WHY DID JACK MURTHA VOTE AGAINST IT?
(MONONGAHELA, October 17) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- commenting on President Bush's signing today of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 -- today released the following statement:
"Today President Bush signed into law the Military Commissions Act of 2006, one of the most critical pieces of legislation considered by the Congress since the devastating attacks of 9/11. I applaud the Congress for passing it, and the President for signing it into law.
"But I cannot help but wonder -- why in the world did Jack Murtha vote against it?
"This legislation focuses on two keys in the war on Islamo-fascist terrorists: first, it codifies the current CIA interrogation program, and thereby allows us to gather critical intelligence that we can use to prevent new attacks against the American homeland and American interests around the world; and second, it allows for the creation of military tribunals through which we can bring to justice those captured terrorists whom we believe played significant roles in attacks against Americans.
"That the CIA interrogation program needed to continue is beyond doubt: this program has allowed U.S. intelligence agents to gather vital information from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi Binalshibh, two of the men believed responsible for planning and carrying out the 9/11 attacks. Intelligence gleaned from this program has allowed us to prevent new terrorist attacks in America and abroad -- we rolled up a 17-member southeastern Asian terrorist cell being trained for attacks inside the U.S.; we uncovered key al Qaeda operatives working on biological weapons; we identified and captured terrorists who were casing targets inside the U.S., including key financial center buildings in the Northeast. And intelligence gathered from this program helped us prevent a planned strike on U.S. armed forces in Djibouti, a planned strike on the U.S. consulate in Karachi, and a planned hijacking plot that would have used airplanes again, against Heathrow Airport and Canary Wharf in London.
"Just as important as allowing a program to continue that will help us prevent future attacks, this legislation will also allow us to bring to justice those who have engaged in prior attacks against us. The military tribunals created by this legislation will be used to try people like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi Binalshibh; an operative believed to have played a role in the twin attacks on U.S. Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya in August 1998; and some of those believed responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole in October 2000.
"So we are left with the question: Why in the world did Jack Murtha vote against this critical legislation?
"Was it so he could maintain his new-found status as the darling of the Hollywood/San Francisco left? Was it so he could build up chits from the ultraliberal, pro-choice, pro-gun control crowd of Democratic challengers he's now helping - and from whom he expects support in his bid to advance his own career? Was it so he could provide cover for other Democrats who have refused to support giving our intelligence and law enforcement authorities the tools they need to protect us?
"Whatever the reason, it troubles me. Add this vote to his vote against reauthorizing the USA PATRIOT Act, and his repeated votes against securing our borders, and one sees a pattern emerging -- Jack Murtha is just not committed to prosecuting and winning the war on Islamofascist terrorists.
"Our generation can no longer afford to bury our heads in the sand. We must rise to the challenge posed us by these terrorists who want to kill us for no other reason than that we are Americans. If Jack Murtha isn't up to the challenge, then it's time for him to step aside and be replaced by someone who WILL take up the challenge."

Murtha: "Screw Republicans"

Just what is the problem here? Why wont John Murtha debate this woman? C'mon Murtha, you can do it. What have you got to lose? Are you going to cut and run from her? Maybe Murtha needs to be re-deployed to Okinawa!! I mean just because you are against EVERY SINGLE MEASURE OF SECURITY FOR THIS NATION is no reason not to debate the woman!
This Lady has a list going of why Murtha doesnt want to debate her "21 Reasons" Counting backwards here are some:
21 REASONS JACK DOESN'T WANT TO DEBATE: HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW:
21.) He has voted himself 12 straight pay raises.
20.) He has voted to raise his own pay from $42,500/yr to $165,500/yr.
19.) He tried to take a $50,000 cash bribe from an undercover agent for the FBI.
18.) His "investment defense" was nothing more than a ruse to hide his $50,000 cash bribe from an undercover agent for the FBI.
17.) He wrongfully accused U.S. Marines of cold-blooded murder.
16.) He voted against allowing military personnel to assist the Department of Homeland Security with border security in times of a threat to national security.
15.) He voted against legislation to fulfill recommendations of the 9/11 Commission to prohibit illegal aliens from obtaining driver's licenses or other official ID cards; to ensure terrorists do not enter or remain in the U.S. through loopholes in asylum or deportation laws; and to strengthen border security by completing the San Diego border fence.
14.) He voted against stiffer sentences for illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes or drug trafficking.
13.) He voted against increasing funds to help state and local governments arrest and detain illegal aliens.
12.) He voted against the Border Control, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005.
11.) He voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006.
10.) He voted against protecting traditional marriage.
9. He voted to allow liberal judges to overturn a law protecting traditional marriage.
8. Contrary to what he says now about his role in Abscam, he didn't just say 'no' to a $50,000 cash bribe.
7. He once hosted a welcome back party for a former congressional staffer who'd just been convicted of taking an illegal bribe.
6. He pushed for a new law to require taxpayers to pay the legal bills of Members of Congress who had been convicted of taking bribes.
5. He voted against giving U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies the power to wiretap suspected terrorists when they call associated in the United States.
4. He voted against giving U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies the power to properly interrogate and bring to trial terrorists who plot against the United States.
3. He said we could safely redeploy American forces from Iraq to Okinawa. Okinawa, Japan. A very, very, very long ways away.
2. He voted to kill the USA PATRIOT act. Twice.
1. He's a central part of the culture of corruption in Congress.

Myself, if I lived in Murtha's district I doubt I would voted for him. He supports conscription which IMHO the military is best at all volunteer status.
He is pro-life. I am pro choice, I am much more socially liberal than he is, but is not a fiscal conservative like me. Like you said he voted himself a raise.

I dont understand why he wont debate this woman.
She seems to have a decent head on her shoulders. I dont know how I got on her email list but I am getting swamped by this stuff. So I figure lets find out.
I know one thing, this Lady is NOT going to give up until Murtha Debates her, and if he doesnt he will look like an idiot. I think Murtha needs to be re-deployed to Japan. Maybe he can go help out with North korea or something, but Murtha's ideas about Iraq are questionable at best.
I take that back, Murtha is just plain WRONG! I know Tommy Franks still advises President Bush on Iraq, and if Tommy Franks, General AbiZaid, and General Casey all seem to agree with President Bush and Rumsfeld on this, I will listen to them any day over Murtha.
I think Murtha is thinking he is still in Viet Nam or something. Or he is just saying a bunch of crap to get re-elected.
Either way he should debate this woman and get this all out in the open, and if he has any plans besides "Cut and Run" I wouldnt mind hearing them myself even though I am far from Pennsylvania!
I did some research on this and it seems like he feels he doesn't need to because he feels he is going to win re-election by a landslide. The polls show that, and he has a sizable lead, but like I said in my sunday post a few weeks polls can be wrong. They are only predictions.
Diana Ivey seems to have a solid head on her shoulders, but I don't agree with her platform. She supports keeping the troops in Iraq and the vast majority of the people in that part of the state, like most people in the state, are against the war in Iraq.
He did vote to tax Social Security which makes me irate. The reason is the vast majority of the people collecting social security are getting peanuts to live off of. Click here , because there is a small but interesting piece on Ms. Ivey's reasoning for Mr. Murtha not wanting to debate.

We all know how the polls work if they were correct Kerry would be President!
I want to know what the Liberals would do if the troops were pulled out leaving 33 Countries worth of our allies to fend for themselves, and letting Iran run amuck and turn Iraq into a terrorist playground? Not to mention our new ally Iraq. What happens to my Kurdish friend Danny? What happens to all those troops that have died to see this mission through to the end? Did they die in vein? What's the plan WHEN that happens and it will if the troops are withdrawn before the Iraqi's can handle thier own security? We didnt abandon our allies in Europe why should we now?
Murtha will go along with taxing more than just Social Security if re-elected, and there goes the economy!
The Polls in 2004 showed that Bush was ahead slightly with Kerry or evenly tied. You have to realize the polls were usually dead tied. That gives a large margin of error.
They give a prediction, but the people they surveyed showed they supported Murtha over Ivey. If you seen the link you would see the big lead that Murtha has. With the war in Iraq, my prediction (notice the italics)is our allies will abandon us before we abandon them. Once Prime Minister Blair retires, I expect the UK to withdrawal. I know Australia has troops sent to Iraq as well, but the vast majority are from the US and UK.
Marie, it's pretty obvious why Jack O. Murtha won't debate his opponent: He knows that he would lose ignominiously. Which of course would be an entirely different thing from what he wants for the country.

P'Shaw!! The polls were all over the place, every day they said something different, even the exit polls on election day were wayyyyyyyyyy off. That did it with me and polls.
I dont think our allies would have much of a choice but to leave if we pulled out, they cant handle it on thier own there's no way! And that isnt fair to them, because they want to see this through to the end. And then what happens to Iraq? No body ever seems to care what our troops or the coalition forces think, and now the Iraqi's are part of the coalition forces!
Uncle P,
Marie, it's pretty obvious why Jack O. Murtha won't debate his opponent: He knows that he would lose ignominiously. Which of course would be an entirely different thing from what he wants for the country.

Ha! If I didnt know you, I wouldnt have gotten that last part.
I loathe Murtha. He, to me is the definition of what's wrong on the left.
Maybe I'm getting too subtle, Marie. you didn't ask what the "O." stands for.
Jenn,
I loathe Murtha. He, to me is the definition of what's wrong on the left.

I cant argue with that. You summed it all up.
Uncle P,
Maybe I'm getting too subtle, Marie. you didn't ask what the "O." stands for.

Well when I see Jack O it reminds me of Michael Jackson, I was assuming that was some kind of reference to a weirdo.
Now you have me curious, what is it for?
Great post Marie. Murtha won't debate because he knows that when his liberal views are truly known he will not be re-elected. Notice on the national stage that as we get closer to the 7th Reid, Pelosi and other prominant liberals are off the center stage so their liberal views cannot be used on the news cycles thus showing the true liberal face to the voting public. Fortunatly because of blogs and the new media the public sees the true face of a liberal whether they try to hide it or not!

Thank You.
Well I know one thing, this Lady is NOT going to give up unless Murtha debates her.
Yes I have noticed the quietness of the Liberals lately, but it isnt going to work because people like you and I and thousands of others are going to expose them for the all around bad actors they really are!
What does the "O." stand for in "Jack O. Murtha" Marie?
Off.
Happy motoring...
Oh My Uncle P, Is that why they call Michael Jackson JackO too? lol
I'm not from Pennsylvania but i would like to see Murtha booted.
