What A Pickle/ Dingey Harry Gonna Block The Door

Democrats Vow to Block Blagojevich Senate Appointment

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich named former state Attorney General Roland Burris to fill President-elect Barack Obama's vacant U.S. Senate seat on Tuesday, stunning lawmakers both in his home state and in Washington, where Senate Democrats vowed to block the appointment.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, who must certify the appointment, said he will not do so and Senate leaders reiterated that they would not accept anyone appointed by Blagojevich.

Blagojevich, claiming he was obligated by law to fill the vacant Senate seat, called Burris -- a lobbyist and campaign donor to the governor -- a candidate of "unquestioned integrity" and urged the public not to "allow the allegations against me to taint this good and honest man."

"It is truly regrettable that despite requests from all 50 Democratic Senators and public officials throughout Illinois, Gov. Blagojevich would take the imprudent step of appointing someone to the United States Senate who would serve under a shadow and be plagued by questions of impropriety," Senate Democrats said in a written statement.

Obama sided with the Senate leadership, saying in a written statement that the governor's decision was "disappointing" and that he should resign so a "lawful and appropriate process of succession" can take place.
I didn't figure this story would still have legs when I came back but it only get's funnier! I am on Blago's side! I think Burris should be seated. Blago has not been impeached, nor indicted, so as far as I can tell he's still legally the Governor of Illinois. Obama should recognise this and the Democrat's and let this guy in the Senate! Cant you see Harry Reid trying to keep the only black man OUT of the Senate? I thought the Democrat's were the party of minority rights?

Aides: Dems to physically block access to Senate floor if Burris shows up...

Armed Gaurds? Have the Democrat's Truly Lost Thier Minds?

This is truly rich, Marie! The libs holler that we're racist because we don't want Obama for president, totally ignoring the fact that it's not Obama we dislike but his politics that we abhor. Okay... now the Dems are blocking the appointment of a Black Man and a Democrat to boot. Where's the outcry of racism from the left? What? You don't hear anything? Neither do I. They remind me of the "moderate Muslims." So quiet you could here a pin drop!

On another note, I don't know if I made it over here to wish you a Merry Christmas or a Happy New Year. I hope that your Christmas was wonderful, and that the new year isn't too much of a disaster. That's about all I can wish for regarding 2009. We can be sure of one thing, Marie: It's not going to be dull!

Yeah! Where is the outcry from the left about the racial overtones of this appointment?

Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on this?

I really want to see Harry Reid call the Sgt. Of Arms to escort an appointed Senator out of the Senate.

That will be something I have NEVER seen that in my life.

Heck, no it's not going to be boring, lol, the left just gave us 4 more years of amunition with THEM being on the Deffensive this time!

Payback's rough aint it?

I'm not sure I got over to your place either so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :-)

Why would anyone accept a nomination from someone who is corrupt? This has nothing to do with Burris or his qualifications: he's a good guy. It has nothing to do with skin color or whether or not Burris eats moose burgers.

Psychovich is a nutcase and anything he touches is tainted. He needs to be removed from office yesterday and made to clean toilets at the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL.

Now how do you know if he is corrupt?

I haven't seen him idicted on any charges!

I Haven't seen the man convicted of a damn thing and until he is, his appoinment of Burris will have to stand!

But that's just Illinois politics!! Ha!

Blago and Reid--what a pair!!! I enjoyed Blago's news conference the other day and the quote for Tennyson. The more appropriate quote from Tennyson's, "Charge of the Light Brigade" should have been, "into to the valley of impeachment rode Blagojevick, politicians to the left of him, politicians to the right of him roared and bitched, but onward, onward rode Blagojevick."
