Condi: Woodward Is Nuts
Reporters Press Tony Snow on the Woodward Book -- He Denies White House in Denial
NEW YORK At his briefing this afternoon, Tony Snow, White House press secretary, faced probing questions from reporters fueled by numerous tidbits and charges already emerging from Bob Woodward's new "State of Denial" book.
Snow tried to counter some allegations and put off others. One high point came when a reporter asked about Woodward's depiction of very strong and ongoing disputes between Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld -- leading to Rumsfeld refusing to take her calls. Snow replied that he had asked Rice about this specifically and she said, "That is ridiculous and I told that to Woodward."
Asked about Woodward claiming that Gen. John Abizaid had stated that Rumsfeld had lost all credibility, Snow simply said the reporters should ask Abizaid about that.
When a reporter pointed out that former top aide Andrew Card had confirmed today the charge in Woodward's book that Card had once sought Rumsfeld's exit, Snow said he had tried to reach Card himself today, unsuccessfully so far. He said he had not asked the president about this. He said it was traditional for the resignations of everyone to be on the table when the White House mulls a shakeup.
He denied the White House was in "denial" about the war, saying that it was indeed a "war" and that people focus too much on Baghdad when there is progress elsewhere.
Snow also hit the Woodward book, and any such book, for being partly based on interviews with "smart" people who did not get their way. He said just about any Washington memoir could have been subtitled, "If Only They'd Listened To Me."

These people have been ticking off Condi alot lately and It's fun to see her get mad and finally fight back! Woodward seems to be the type of guy to hang around important people, drink cocktails with them, and somehow later on pop out a book.

You're forgetting that the Bushies loved Woodward's first two books that made Bush look like an Olympian god.
They allowed him incredible access to Bush and his key people.
Now comes this last installment of the trilogy and they're howling about what he has written.
Too bad. The American people will read it and decide.
The tide has turned. This is not good for the Bushies. They're on the defensive and that's never good.
Who know's why Woodward does what he does, sometimes he goes after Dems and sometimes Reps look at Nixon, sometimes Woodward is wrong sometimes he's right who knows?

The thing about Condi is that the intelligensia and the media like going after her because they are so jealous of her intelligence. This woman runs rings around the media because she is so so much smarter than they are. I told you about the college professor site I used to go Marie, nothing would set off a fueled explosion like when I would say "they were jealous of her intelligence". Gosh talk about jealousy, I've never seen so much directed at one person. They really dislike Condi too because they feel like she has betrayed them because blacks aren't supposed to be conservatives, that really sets them off. Look at the way they went after Clarence Thomas and the LT Governernor Steele from Maryland that is running for the US Senate.
Woodward is just another' hey look at me" journalist and doesn't like to be ignored. Apparently his first two books didn't do so well with the left and didn't sell to meet projections so he had to do something else. The "attack the Bush administration" will sell well with the left. It doesn't really have to have anything to do with truth.

Nothing to do with truth. Yeah, that'll work. That's why Card and Kissinger and others who were quoted in the book have acknowledged that yes, they did say what Woodward quoted them as saying.
Yes, of course, a man who makes his living by writing books is going to make wild accusations and lie--because, you know, no one can fact check anything in this age of instant fact checking.

I dont know what Woodward's motives are but I'm not sure the White House even paid alot of attention to him until he started making things up and getting them wrong. Especially quotes. Quotes if not true, and factual are easily dismissed especially if the person never gave them to begin with!
Evidently Woodward wasnt granted the access you claim this time, and it appears he made stuff up as he went along.

Condi is a very bright woman. It cracks me up the way she fights back. She outwits the media every time.
I know it infuriates Liberals to see black people run for Republican seats like Steele, and look at the price he pays for it, they call him Sambo, Uncle Tom, etc..
But people are waking up to the Liberal party and are thinking "Hey maybe this isnt for me", at least some people are awake.
As for Woodward, his book will easily be discredited because he doesnt have any actual facts or quotes in there, just his guesses or second hand views.
