British Hostages Free!!!!
15 British Hostages Free
TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defused a growing confrontation with Britain, announcing the surprise release of 15 captive British sailors Wednesday and then gleefully accepting the crew's thanks and handshakes in what he called an Easter gift.
The 15 Britons arrived at the VIP section of Tehran's airport early Thursday in a convoy of sedans and boarded a British Airways flight to London. The crew, seated in business class, boarded after the other passengers had taken their seats, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair expressed "profound relief" Wednesday over the peaceful end to the 13-day crisis. "Throughout we have taken a measured approach — firm but calm, not negotiating, but not confronting either," Blair said in London, adding a message to the Iranian people that "we bear you no ill will."
The announcement in Tehran was a breakthrough in a crisis that had escalated over nearly two weeks, raising oil prices and fears of military conflict in the volatile region. The move to release the sailors suggested that Iran's hard-line leadership decided it had shown its strength but did not want to push the standoff too far

It will be very interesting to see what the Hostages have to say about all of this mess. Congrat's Briton!! At least this went smoother than our Hostage situation, then again we had Jimmy (Peanut) Carter at the helm then. And what a friggen mess he was!

Lesson learned; when attacked by an obviously hostile force, shoot first and ask questions later. Instead of the scene showing hostages being realeased the scene should have been Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad showing the debris of the boats sunk by British after being attcked in the Pesrsian Gulf.
Good morning, Marie.
I'm glad the sailors get to return home to their families, extremely glad, but Ahmadinejad saying it was an "Easter present" is the heighth of hypocricy, because first of all he certainly doesn't believe in Easter. He also said that women shouldn't serve in combat and coming from someone who hasn't any respect for women whatsoever that's just too funny! Ahmadinejad certainly didn't release these people out of the goodness of his heart; he doesn't have one.
Jenn,
That's what I was thinking yesterday. How they got in this situation to begin with.
If the Brits had taken YOUR approach, none of this scene showing would have been going on.
And quite frankly I'm confused!!
Lady Thatcher would NEVER have let this nonsense go on after seeing what happened to us!
I do believe she would have given the order to shoot.
Debris of boats sunk LMAO! You kill me.
Good Mornin Gayle,
Yeah, since when did President Nutball start believing in Easter? lol
Are you as confused as I am Gayle? lol
I'm sorry to be laughing over what could have been a serious situation but something tells me that these 15 British Sailors were never in any real danger to begin with.
Something is fishy with the Iranians, I'm sure the Sailors didnt know what the heck to think but this was some wacky play by the Iranians that's for sure.
Unless of course the threat of the U.S.S. Stennis,
Eisenhower, and now The Nimitz on the way played some part in this.
Marie, Newsmax is reporting that fear of the entrance of the Nimitz in the Gulf combined with the Stennis and Eisenhower is what forced the release. I have a link to the story in my latest post!
Ken,
I swear we do this all the time I was on your blog again the same time you were on mine lol funny.
I saw that NewsMax link. I think we need to have our Destroyers sitting right in Iranian waters and leave them there for the duration.
After the Nimitz arrives President Nutball will really be squirming.
I heard a suggestion on the radio tha the Nimizt should be stationed on the exact coordinates as the Brits were when the Iranians took them. Then we'll see just how tough they really are!
Ken,
Now that's a good idea!
But make sure thier tail end is hanging off in Iranian waters on purpose.
