Do The Democrats Really Want Us To Die? Or Get Attacked Again?
Democratic leaders are poised to gut America’s missile defense - at the same time North Korea and Iran are testing long-range missiles that can strike the U.S. and its allies, including Israel, Japan and Britain.
Meanwhile, sources inside the missile-defense community tell Pajamas Media that the Bush administration is planning to ask Congress to begin funding development of an “orbital battle station.”
With these key developments, 2007 is set to be the biggest battle of space-based weapons since President Reagan proposed “Star Wars” in 1983.
The incoming chairman of the Senate’s Armed Services Committee is Carl Levin. Levin, a Michigan Democrat, has long been a foe of missile defense. In 1980s, he worried that President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative — which aimed to develop technology to destroy Soviet missiles during all phases of flight — was “destabilizing.”
Today Sen. Levin sings the same tune in a different key. “They’ve not done the operational testing yet that is convincing,” said Senator Levin during a post-election press conference. He was referring to the Ground based Missile Defense [GMD] system being installed in Alaska and California, to defend against North Korean missiles. He added that he favors stalling purchases of interceptor missiles - vital for missile defense — until after testing is complete.
In short, Sen. Levin and other longtime opponents of missile defense plan to use “testing” - set to an unrealistically high level - to stop missile defense.
How the Game is Played
Former Assistant Secretary of Defense Frank Gaffney explains how the game works: “The idea is that we put it [missile defense] on ice until absolutely everybody is satisfied. It is a formula for not having the missile defense we need.”
Critics hope to stop missile defense by devoting its entire budget to testing, which is costly. At $100 million dollars or more per test, a test or two could easily absorb the entire Ground-based missile defense budget.
Certainly testing sounds reasonable. Why not make sure the stuff works before blowing billions on it? But the testing fixation ignores that, like software, most successful weapons systems are best debugged after being deployed. And some weapons systems were never tested at all before deployment.
Complex weapons systems have often been used successfully without proper testing. In 1940, Britain’s new air defenses — radars, ground observers, anti-aircraft guns and squadrons of Spitfires and Hurricanes — had never been tested against even a small scale simulated attack. Yet they won the Battle of Britain. Likewise in the 1991 Gulf War the first two E-8A ground surveillance radar aircraft had only just begun a long testing process when they were shipped to Saudi Arabia. During the war they performed magnificently and now these aircraft are in high demand all over the world.
For decades, critics of advanced technology weapons have pointed to testing failures to support their drive to cancel the programs. Yet test failures are a normal part of the development process of any weapon system. Consider the M-1 tank. Its early tests were riddled with failures, yet now it is one of the most effective tanks in the world.

Over in the House of Representatives, Democrats are deploying a similar strategy to stop missile defense. Seven House Democrats, including Ike Skelton (D-MO), John Spratt (D-SC), Loretta Sanchez and Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), recently sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld complaining of “tests that have been highly scripted with unrealistic countermeasures, the time of the enemy launch was known and the threat came from only a single enemy missile.” This sounds reasonable, but is actually disingenuous. Each test is designed to achieve a specific set of goals, this is what the Democrats mean by “scripted.”
Each test requires the use of a heavily modified ICBM as a target. Hundreds, maybe thousands of highly trained specialists operate sensors and collect the telemetry from both the interceptor and the target missile. Development testing like this is designed to gather information on performance and reliability. It will be years before the system is ready for “operational testing.”
While the Democratic lawmakers insist they support “fielding a limited defense capability that works,” they still see missile defense as a boondoggle. The letter writers contend: “Since the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) was launched in the mid 1980’s the United States has spent nearly $100 billion dollars on missile defense programs and studies with little to show for it.” This last sentence is ironic since most Democrats have long opposed any actual deployment of strategic missile defenses.

Democrats in Congress have learned not to treat homeland missile defense with the disdain they demonstrated in the 1980s; the threat of attack from rogue nations seems far too real to shrug off. Generally Democratic lawmakers support for modest research budgets and “limited” missile defenses, while citing “inadequate testing” to stop actual deployment.
Democratic opponents of missile defense often speak as if the ground-based missile defense system was the whole program, ignoring the sea based SM-3 missile, which has been undergoing a rigorous and successful test program in the waters off Hawaii. Pajamas Media has learned that the Bush administration is going to ask Congress for funding to begin development of an “orbital battle station” that will be able to attack enemy missiles in their vulnerable boost phase.
Each Battle Station would be a fairly large satellite that carried a number, perhaps 40 to 50 infrared guided “kill vehicles.” On orders from the ground, the battle station would launch these kill vehicles, roughly about the size of a loaf of bread, at incoming missiles. Professor Everett Dolman of the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama and the author of %%Amazon= 0714681970 Astropolitik - Classical Geopolitics in The Space Age%%, says that space based systems are “the only viable option for global defense against the most likely threats, such as an attack by Iran against Israel or by Pakistan against India.”
“The technology,” Dolman said, “for a basic orbital interceptor that could hit an ICBM in mid flight has been available to the U.S. for at least two decades. Indeed should the U.S. dedicate itself to a fast track development and deployment of several dozen networked anti-missile satellites, it could have a baseline capability in place within two years.”
The Bush administration pending request for an orbital battle station will surely touch off a brawl over “space weaponization”. Loren Dealy a spokeswoman for the Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee told Pajamas Media: “Our members have serious concerns with the concept of space-based interceptors.”

Last May, he said “We owe it to ourselves to understand the full ramifications of a move into space before we introduce this additional variable into the missile defense equation.” Overall they may spend the same sums the GOP was planning to spend, but would keep any effective defense systems on the drawing board forever.
Now that the Democrats are in charge of both houses of Congress for the first time since the 9-11 attacks, they face an important and ultimately revealing choice: will they to stick with the bromides beloved by their base or work with the president to safeguard the country from North Korean and Iranian missiles?

Yes but this is very upsetting. I mean they arent even sworn in yet and they are already trying to tear down our defenses. It's almost as if they want to please to many people for voting them into office, and at the same time while we are at WAR leave us ALL even those that put them in office vulnerable to another attack. And we have Chia Pet over in North Korea just dying to lob a missile our way and they want to take away the capability we have or will have to shoot that missile down? What are they thinking? Do they not care what kind of world thier children and grandchildren will live in? Why are they so hell bent on destroying this Country they claim to love? The demoduds don't think they are destroying the country. They believe if we're nice to everyone and open our borders and stop trying defend ourselves that will make the other countries like us. That kind of emotional argument got us attacked on 9/11 after years of cutting the military and intelligence budgets. The people that voted for the demoduds voted for them because they were told we neeeded a change over and over and over again by their media. Conservatives sat this election out because they were pissed off.

Did you notice that during the campaign when the Korean situation arose that Democrats were in favor of missile defense ? One Dem on the House intelligence committee actually went on CSPAN and stated that Dems have always favored missile defense. This cut proves otherwise and I'm sure if President Reagan were still around he too would give proof that Dems hate missile defense and have always gutted and been against it.
I dont know about all of this other stuff but Iran is trying to take over the world and they have everything in motion for this event to happen very soon.

I have been giving this alot of thought lately and they have been acheiving World domination slowly and LEGALLY!! They have krept into the governments of Lebanon, Palestine, Europe, they want us out of Iraq so they can take over, and want Israel out of the way because they know that is the only Country with enough balls to NOT let this happen.
They want us ALL to turn Muslim, and the only thing I can see holding them back from completely taking over the United States is because we have the right to bare arms and they know that if they try an uprising it will be squashed by the American people.

People like Mrs. Green want to close their eyes to this stuff but I've been at this for a long time and know what Farrakhan and his men want. They want me and my Jewish friends dead.

I reject any religion that advocates the destruction of cultures or other religions. It's unfortunate that Ellison is associated with this sort of cult. I don't know enough about him to determine if he is a true believer. So I can't defend or condemn him.
But I doubt he'll have any power to do any harm to the US government.
Have you read about Turkey? That is a MUslim country that allows women full participation in government and is one of the most liberal and open Muslim societies in the Middle East.
And it is a democracy.

Im not trying to say that ALL Muslim's or Muslim Country's are evil. I AM saying the Lunatic in Iran is Evil. And it seems to be growing clearer every day that World Domination IS his agenda!
And I am not advocating "An Invasion" of Iran!
Taking out Iran's launch pads on the other hand with strategic surgical air strikes before he has a chance to cause Nuclear Halocaust to someone DOES cross my mind however!
And I am saying if we allow our missile defense system to be gutted, and say Lunatic DOES have the bomb and we dont have any way to shoot it down what will happen to us?
Or what if Chia Pet in North Korea decides he want's to go haywire again like he did on the 4th of July?
All I'm saying is we are facing a new threat to us that is the most deadly I have ever seen in my lifetime. On one hand we have Chia Pet, who may or may not have Nukes, and God only knows if he is crazy enough to put one on the end of a war head and lob it our way.
Then we have Lunatic who has stated that he IS going to aquire Nukes no matter what anyone want's, Israel MUST go, and that we all will turn Muslim or we will be BBQ'd!
And since 9-11 we dont even know if Al-Queada is Al-Queada anymore because ever since they succeeded with thier crap there's like a million splinter cells now.
I just think having the capability to keep these idiots and thier missiles from ever reaching American soil is a MUST at this point.
You can call me scared, or harsh, or paranoid, but watching 3000 of our fellow Americans die on 9-11 has a tendency to do that to some people!

Mrs. Green, Turkey forbids land ownership to anyone other than Muslims. The Orthodox Christian Church is closely scrutinized by the Turkish government and Christians must register with the government. This is the place where Christianity became a worldwide faith with council of Nicea. Leaders of the world came there to be united in their faith and to speak with one voice in the teachings of Christ.
Even though Turkey is considered to be a moderate Muslim State it still is a place of oppression to Christians and please if you are Jewish don't even go near Turkey.
The United States has been much more than gracious to Muslims who come here and attempt to assimilate but they have done little or nothing to assist in the War on Terror except to pay lip service with a couple of spokes people that make the rounds on the talk news programs. It is their brethren that administer a reign of terror down own their kind and on the neighbors around them. Just ask any Hindu that lives near the province of Kashmir and see what they have to say about the "religion of peace".
The schools in Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Indonesia
and the other Muslim theocratic states teach their children to become suicide bombers. Here in the US we teach our children in most schools to say "God bless America" but every Muslim child is taught the saying "Death to America" (some public schools in America teach that saying, purple moron must have attended that one)
I am against injustice of any kind and I believe myself to be a fair minded individual but I will not tolerate groups or individuals that attack or undermine our form of government or our way of life. I am always willing to live and let live but when attacked you can expect fierce and overwhelming retaliation from me. That is my nature and the Military taught me how to focus it.
Mr. Ellison owes his allegiance to the United States and must swear an oath of Allegiance to uphold the Constitution. If this man wants to hold a private ceremony where he places his hand on the Koran to swear his oath I don't have a big problem with that. I want him to swear an oath to uphold the Constitution and to protect the United States against enemies both foreign and domestic under penalty of treason like every other Congressperson, Senator, Judge President and military person. If he objects to using a Bible then so be it, it will be better if he affirms his oath without it but to swear in public on the Koran is pushing things way too far in judging from my rather tolerant opinion.
