Bush's Approval Rating Falls to New Low

By RON FOURNIER
AP Political Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- More and more people, particularly Republicans, disapprove of President Bush's performance, question his character and no longer consider him a strong leader against terrorism, according to an AP-Ipsos poll documenting one of the bleakest points of his presidency.

Nearly four out of five Americans, including 70 percent of Republicans, believe civil war will break out in Iraq - the bloody hot spot upon which Bush has staked his presidency. Nearly 70 percent of people say the U.S. is on the wrong track, a 6-point jump since February.

"Obviously, it's the winter of our discontent," said Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla.

"what is so important about poll numbers?"

You'd think it was damned important if Bush's numbers were in the 90s. And you'd make sure the Dems never forgot it.

Poll numbers are important, it seems, when you guy is ridin' high, when they're in the toilet, you think they're not important.

hokay. whatever. So should Bush regain any of his poll numbers, we should not attach any importance to that?

If any person running for president found he or she had an approval rating of 30%, we shouldn't attach any importance to it?

Yeah.

Right.

Whew.

dave singleton,

The world isn't coming to an end over Bush's low approval numbers either.

But America is coming to its senses in understanding what a disaster he and his administration has been for the country.
