The libs are rinning scared, evidenced by the far reaching attacks on Palin. There is even an attack questioning her family values because she chose to return to Alaska for the borth of her last child instead of immediatly going to a Texas hospital after her water broke.

Trying to actually claim she has no concern for the unborn because she threatened the life of her unborn. '

Libs are sacared and they are looking for anything to try and turn Conservatives aways from this fantastic VP choice.

McCain/Palin means victory in 2008!

They look about as comfortable together as Dick Cheney and Ellen DeGeneres.

Here is Palin's response to a candidate questionnaire for the Alaska 2006 gubernatorial race:

Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?

SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance

Problem: the original Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 (when both "Founding Fathers" and "Framers" were very dead) and it didn't contain the words "under God" until 1954 when added by congress under Eisenhower.

Do we have a female version of George Bush???

I'm sure being against abortion even in cases of incest and rape will push Hillary supporters to favor the McSame ticket.

If McSame had picked Romney or Pawlenty, I would have said Obama's chances were slim at best. The left does not have a network entirely devoted to its ideology like the right has with Fox News and therefore does not have a daily and nightly mouthpiece.

But picking Palin has just made it Obama's race to lose.

Gayle,

No need for us to attack; you're doing it to yourselves.

Apart from the fact that her 18 month gubernatorial experience is virtually hollow (the entire state of Alaska has the population of Baltimore, MD) and before that she was mayor of Mayberry...errr...Wasilla with a whopping 7,000 people, that she has no clue what a vice-president does (by her own admission)...then this whopper....

BREAKING NEWS: Palin's 17 yr old UNWED daughter is 5 months pregnant!

Family values? Huh? She should have been teaching her daughter how to make bearskin rugs rather than rolling around on one naked with her boyfriend.

This is going to go over FABULOUSLY with the radical Christian right!

Great choice!

All you had to do was pick Romney and it was a near lock...

Ken,

They are running scared. Any woman that has had a baby knows once your water breaks it can take a long long time to give birth, she has 5 kids I think she knew what she was doing lol

Federalist,

Oh wow! So she made a mistake about the pledge of alligiance! Whoopi.
They still opened every session of Congress back then with a prayer which holds tru till this day.

You are right it's Obama's race to lose alright and he just lost it.

And now this...!!! What is today, Christmas???

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) — A senior adviser to the McCain campaign confirmed Monday that Todd Palin, husband to Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in 1984.

"Yes, 24 years ago he had a DWI," senior McCain adviser Steve Schmidt told reporters in St. Paul.

Schmidt was asked if he was worried about the news, and replied, “I was not.”

The story was first reported by David Brody, a CNN contributor and Christian Broadcasting Network News Senior National Correspondent.

What next, Marie???

The mud-slinging and dirty tricks have begun.
Liberals act like children because they are children. They want the government to be their idealized parents. This development is only meaningful to an adult. It does show extreme courage an McCain's part, but we already knew he had that.

The Palin's are real people, with real joys and real sorrows. They are adults. Don't know if our TV watching country will accept them. Hope so.

This is a HUGE blow to the over 60 crowd that McSame had locked up by a 50 point margin.

If she has to take care of a Down's Syndrome child and obviously cannot teach her daughter responsible sexual behavior, how could she possibly be second in charge to the most powerful country on the face of the planet?

Better question: did she keep this from McSame or worse, did he know and picked her anyway?

Palin hires attorney for Troopergate investigation

JUNEAU — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential candidate, has hired a private practice attorney to defend her and members of her staff in the investigation into the firing of her public safety commissioner.

By STEVE QUINN

The Associated Press

JUNEAU — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential candidate, has hired a private practice attorney to defend her and members of her staff in the investigation into the firing of her public safety commissioner.

The state Legislature is investigating whether Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin's sister.

Anchorage attorney Thomas V. Van Flein has requested a copy of all witness statements and documentary evidence from the Legislature's investigator, Stephen Branchflower.

Sen. Hollis French, an Anchorage Democrat, responded on behalf of Branchflower, saying he instructed Branchflower not to comply with the request.

In July, a legislative oversight committee approved $100,000 for an investigation into whether Palin abused her power in firing Monegan.

You are obviously mistaken faux guy. The experience that Palin has is executive experience. Alaska is the largest state in the Union by far. There is more land area in the surrounding community of Juneau than the whole state of Delaware. The people in Alaska take care of themselves which is more than can be said for the government dependency that Obama preaches and for the people that find themselves agreeing with him.

Obama has nothing more than what is called side line bomb throwing experience. There's no comparison to executive experience as we have just seen during the hurricane in Louisiana. When a real executive that is in charge of their state and his National Guard took matters into his own hands things turned out very well without relying the Federal government to bail him out.

Governor Katrina can't make that claim though, she was responsible for her state but failed to call her National Guard out in time and was afraid to use her power and authority to manage the catastrophe that was unfolding before her eyes.

Now go count some beans for some productive citizens and stop your confounded whining about everything. sheesh!!!

The young woman, Bristol Palin, has the RIGHT to CHOOSE to keep her baby thanks to reproductive laws like Roe v. Wade. She also has the right to make other choices.

I am a pro-choice advocate because I believe women are smart enough to make their own reproductive DECISIONS. Like Bristol Palin and her family.

Well lets' see about Obama.

Admitted drug user.

Supporter of Infanticide.

Obama is a colleague and political legatee of 1960's American born terrorists William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Ayers and Dohrn supported and raised money for Obama and launched Obama's political career from the living room of his house.

Colleague and 20 year follower of racist black separatist Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

State Senator that missed or voted present in over hundred votes, he even pressed the wrong button while voting, and that bodes well if he is control of the nuclear arsenal eh?

Obama as the chair for the Senate sub committee on NATO never held a single hearing when Afghanistan is mainly a NATO operation.

Obama believes regular people that believe in the constitution bitterly cling to the religion and firearms because life is not a liberal utopia.

Governor Palin is Chief executive of the largest state in the Union and supplier of 20 percent of the oil for the United States.

Daughter got pregnant at the age of 17.

Husband arrested for DUI before they were married.

Stopped the Ted Stevens’ (longest serving Republican in the US Senate) "bridge to nowhere"

Palin defeated sitting Governor and longtime political insider Frank Murkowski in primary by a landslide for the office of Governor. Palin defeated the democrat Tony Knowles by an even larger margin in the General election.

Lifetime supporter of 2nd amendment rights by being a member of NRA.

The biggest difference is Palin is not the top of the ticket and Obama is. Joe Biden is really the person that liberals are relying on because they know Obama is too inexperienced to be President. Having said that Joe Biden is going to stick his foot right smack dab in the middle of his mouth, it's only a matter of time.

You can say all the stupid things you want about Sarah Palin but she makes Obama look totally bankrupt by comparison.

I could govern Yellowstone National Park if only animals lived there. Her state is the largest GEOGRAPHICAL REGION because of all of the islands, NOT BECAUSE OF POPULATION.

THE TOTAL POPULATION IS THE SAME AS BALTIMORE, MD.

She has not met any leaders of the G-8, no leaders of the Middle East, didn't even vote for the Fuhrer. But instead took 27 million dollars in handouts of earmarks (McSame hates earmarks), was for the Bridge before she was against (learned the flip-flop and twist move from McSame), is currently being investigated (mandatory for Republicans), attended fundraisers for Ted Stevens, contradicts McSame's belief about global warming, supports McSame's opposition for funding for teen mothers (laughable, I mean, seriously), like Bush believes that we are in Iraq to do "God's work", beat out a tired, re-tread Democrat and a corrupt Republican to be elected governor of the 47th least populated state in the U.S.

She was mayor of a town which its total number of habitants could be very comfortably seated in any high school gymnasium.

McSame was running on the platform of experience and national security but then bet on Palin getting the Hillary voter. BIG strike out! She is anti-abortion in incest and rape and wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. and calls Hillary a "whiner". LOL!

You make me laugh J_G.

As far as Obama, scratch the William Ayers thing. Rumsfeld and Cheney both enjoyed the company of Saddam Hussein on several occasions, shaking his hand and smiling all the way to the bank. You have no room there, sorry and Obama was 8 when Ayers blew himself and his derelict friends up.

Obama said nothing about utopia. He stated a simple truth: when people in rural America get bitter over the economy or an issue that hits them personally, they do cling to guns and religion because those two things NEVER fail! All you have ever done is prove that right! You talk about guns and religion on your blog! LOL...thanks for the assist on that one!

Present over 100 votes out of 4,000 votes. Not even McSame can claim that ratio (thought I would finish the statistic for you since you pulled that one from your Boy Toys Rush and Sean.

Bottom line J_G: you support her only because she's your only hope.

I love it when you get all flustered and repeat those talking points from the same, tired websites you visit: Rush, Hannity, et al.

Do you or Marie EVER have one, single thought of your own????

The reason we are so occupied with this story is that it is so completely nonsensical of a move. You see, living under fascist rule the last 8 years, we are conditioned to see Joseph Goebbels...errr...Karl Rove make calculated political, propagandistic moves that strive to keep the regime in power.

Sarah Palin is so weak of a choice that we are scratching our heads and saying, "When are they going to announce the REAL VP pick?"

It's almost as if they are letting Obama win without even competing.

Obama has gained 2 points in the poll since McSame's pick. Her anti-abortion stance in the face of incest and rape are sure to turn millions of Hillary supporters away. The pregnant daughter is going to brush the over 60 crowd away.

And she's being investigated? Can't she just make an Alaskan law that says you can't investigate moose hunters?

This was an abysmal choice and it shows McSame's lack of judgment and lack of integrity. He must have wanted to move the spotlight off of his lack of substance and lack of details for any platform he might have. That's his problem: he never mentions specifics. And now he just stares at Sarah's back side like a senile old man at Hooters.

Funny that you mention "common sense" as a gift: I see you're still waiting for a handout.

Fun-filled facts about Failin' Palin:

-In her earlier career as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, (LOL) Palin hired a lobbyist to help the tiny town secure at least 14 earmarks, worth $27 million between 2000-2003. McCain has touted Palin as a force in his long battle against earmarks.(McSame would be very upset...wait...he's not???)

-Her husband, Todd, twice registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a fierce states' rights group that wants to turn all federal lands in Alaska back to the state. Sarah Palin herself never registered as a member of the party, according to state officials, though party members said she attended a 1994 convention with her husband.

-The state legislature is investigating whether she had Alaska's public safety commissioner fired after he refused to dismiss a state trooper who had divorced Palin's sister. Lawyer Thomas Van Flein said he is representing Palin both personally and in her official capacity as governor. He can bill the state up to $95,000.

-Palin opposed the U.S. government's listing of a variety of animals as endangered, including the polar bear and the beluga whale, both of which inhabit areas also rich in oil and natural gas.

-Palin previously acknowledged she smoked marijuana but said in a 2006 interview she no longer used the drug. "I can't claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled," she said. (guess you can't say she didn't do drugs J_G...bummer, huh?)

- Palin's management style has come under scrutiny. When taking over as mayor of Wasilla, she asked top officials to submit resignation letters, resulting in several departures, including that of the police chief. The chief claimed it was because he supported her opponent in the mayor's race. (I actually like this, Machiavellian in nature)

-Under her leadership this year, Alaska asked for almost $300 per person in requests for pet projects from Stevens, one of McCain's top adversaries. That's more than any other state received, per person, from Congress. (Real Maverick!)

-Ted Stevens also campaigned for Palin in 2006 and appeared in a political advertisement for her. (Once again, a testament to what Bush would call, "maverickness")

-The Alaska governor campaigned in 2006 on a build-the-bridge platform, telling Ketchikan residents she felt their pain when politicians called them "nowhere." They’re still feeling pain today in Ketchikan, over Palin’s subsequent decision to use the bridge funds for other projects - and over the timing of her announcement, which they say came in a pre-dawn press release that seemed aimed at national news deadlines. (awww..hey Alaska, wise up! Failin' Palin has bigger polar bears to skin than your silly bridge!)

Honestly, any one of the ladies in the choir at my childhood church are more qualified than Failin' Palin. And I really wanted a close race....

Blogger The WordSmith from Nantucket said...

She repeatedly pressed him on Palin’s foreign policy experience and qualifications, asking him to name one decision that she made as commander-in-chief of the Alaskan National Guard. Bounds was unable to do so.

Tucker Bounds should have simply said he didn't know specific decisions she's made as governor (traditionally, governors have been in sole control of local NG units when it comes to dealing with emergencies; thanks to Blanco and Nagin's ineptitude, the knee-jerk reaction was to federalize control of the Guards in 2006; but that's now since been repealed).

Palin is the commander of the Alaskan NG. I didn't notice Bounds misspeak regarding equipping the Guard (in Iraq).

As far as Campbell Brown's question in regards to foreign policy experience,

Medved:
Yes, this undermines McCain’s future use of the experience issue, but that’s almost certainly a good thing, too. The experience issue has never worked well in presidential elections: Gerald Ford tried it against a one-term Governor of Georgia (the worthless Jimmy Carter) and lost; Carter tried it against Reagan (no foreign policy experience as Governor of California!) and got wiped out; George H.W. Bush tried to make it stick against Bill Clinton and the result was the lowest percentage of the vote for a Republican candidate since Wiliam Howard Taft. The line McCain’s been using “He’s Not Ready to Lead” is still viable – and should emphasize a discussion of Obama’s policies, not his job history—his radicalism, not his resume. Meanwhile, we should invite comparisons of Governor Palin’s experience with Obama’s: won’t the PTA connect more with middle class voters than “community organizer,” and property tax-cutting small town mayor count more than slippery State Senator who voted “present” a disquieting proportion of the time. In any event, both tickets now balance experience with youthful energy – but McCain is balancing it the right way, with the experience at the top.

Sowell:
No governor ever had foreign policy experience before becoming president-- not Ronald Reagan, not Franklin D. Roosevelt, nor any other governor.

It is hard to know how many people could possibly have had foreign policy experience before reaching the White House besides a Secretary of State or a Secretary of Defense.
