If you take the time period that I have been writing about over at my blog you'll find out that even though people only had word of mouth and newspapers they were much more informed than the "guy on the street" is today.

Whenever I get into it at work I always ask whoever I'm arguing with to point it out on a map or who was presdident at the time and who controlled congress That's usually met with the enevitable blank stare although now some of the guys are ready. We have large maps of the World , US and and our local region and they doggone konw I'm going to bring it up when we argue about Iraq. Almost everyone knows where Iraq and theyrun is on that map.; May 07, 2007 10:46 AM
