GOP Debate 1

These guys did awesome!! A little Nervous but awesome. They make me Proud to be an American. All in all I think these guys did great.

With one exception.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul is a mess. That guy is OUT THERE!!!!

UPDATE:

From The Dept. Of Clarification: Uncle Pavion over at West Neanderthal Drive has pointed out there may need to be some clarification as to who Ron Paul is and is not. Since most of us are terribly confused about this man it may be necessary to clear up one bit of confusion.

Yeah, if they'd have listened to Ron Paul in the beginning and stuck to their oath of office there would be alot of American soldiers still alive! LOL Paul smoked all these punks besides Tancredo.

Real,

Yeah that's it if we had listened to Ron Paul we would have been attacked repeatedly by now.

And I thought you said he was tough on immigration, yet he doesnt support an ID card?

Didnt you see the looks on the candidates faces? They were looking when he was done talking like (I think this guy is out there)

Holy Moly!

If you want a National ID card you would've felt right at home in Nazi Germany when they stopped everyone on the streets with "Papers please! Papers. We need to see your papers."

Paul is for beefing up the borders and abolishing ALL the incentives (socialist programs) that bring illegals here like National health care, Social Security (which is bankrupt), etc....

Show me someone more conservative.

Real,

In this day and age? We need a system where we can Identify the Illegal Aliens that have already crossed over.

What do you think we are going to be able to round up all 12 million of them?

Get real!

They all want a fence, and President Bush is the first one that ever did a damn thing about it.

But Ron Paul's views on other issues are OUT THERE!!

He even looks like a Conspiracy theory guy!

All of them were conservative. I'm just saying Ron Paul does NOT have the interests of America first!

He seems to not want to have anything to do with self defense, and wants to turn everything back into a "Police Action". A pre-9-11 mentality.

He's a mess

May 03, 2007 8:07 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh, he also wants to abolish the Birthright citizenship. Not even Tancredo wants to do that.

And "not have America's Interest first"?

Did you know that lobbyist don't even go to Ron Paul's office if their issue isn't expressly authorized in the constitution? Did you know that he's never voted to raise congressional pay? Never voted to raise taxes?

He's the most honest candidate in decades! And I'm not exaggerating. He's got a 100% rating in the "Conservative Index" which is the most popular gauge of conservativism.

To quote your hero:

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is." - Ronald Reagan

"Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country." - U.S. President Ronald Reagan

Real,

Yeah when pinned down on the question of what would he do in a "Crisis" situation knowing full well Chris (Nutball with Chris Matthews) Matthews was talking about an attack like 9-11 or on that magnitude, Dr. Ron Paul went back to his medical days "Well I had to make difficult decisions in surgery"! WTF was that?

Ron Paul gave us NOTHING in the way of National Security! NOTHING!!!

Ron Paul is a Libertarian! I dont know how he wound up on a Republican platform.

The gall of Ron Paul to show up at the Reagan Library of all places pretending to be a Republican was appauling.

Because he and President Reagan have absolutely NOTHING in common, and he should be ashamed of himself!

No use arguing with real conspiracy Marie. They believe that libertarian stuff like the left believes in the little red book of Mao. I've been there and I saw all the loons and heard all the conspiracy theories. The truth is libertarians are unelectable because unlike the founding Fathers they have no wisdom. The Constitution says what it says and liberatrian interpretation would put us indangere because they don't believe the USC authorizes preemtive wars or military action which is absolutlely false. Jefferson himself found it neccessary to make a preemtive military strike and he got the authority from Congress with the same words used to get authority to attck Iraq and Afghanistan. There was no declaration of war, another myth made up by liberatians so they wouldn't have serve in overseas wars. No, Marie libertarians have their place but it's not in high elected offices because they don not have the wherewithall to deal with real problems in real world. They have their Cato Institute but it's all theory and it should stay that way.

I am former card carrying John Birch Society member and I've seen and heard enough from them and the other conspiracy lunactics. They are as far right as the socialists/communists are left.

I'll tell you ONE of the things he did wrong!

He had the gall to show up at the Reagan Library as a Republican trying to be a Reaganesque figure when he is anything but!

Very well said, j_g. I was going to point out the Barbary War, plus Jefferson's purchase of Louisiana as an example of an executive making key decisions that were in the best interest of the country. If Paul were president in the 1800s his own state of Texas would probably still be a separate country.

- I doubt he'd try and give our ports away to Middle Eastern companies to run!

GWB is a complete joke! Clinton didn't spend NEAR the amount of money that Bush has. Yeah, aren't there alot of koolaid drinkers on here, like Marie, that have be saying the spending is fine and Bush hasn't done anything un-conservative? Sheeez! Like how many times did EVERY candidate last night say over and over that the spending under this administration was out of control? LOL!! You guys aren't conservatives. You're socialist who feel real big and bad b/c you support unconstitutional wars. You'll cut the throat of conservatism at the drop of a hat b/c some clown like Hannity says so. You aren't leaders. You're followers. You would've been on the side of the Redcoats against our founding fathers when they were fighting for Liberty and the ideals expressed in the Constitution.

Sad, indeed.

David Horowitz: "Ron Paul...is a Disgrace"

A sign, if of nothing else, of some of the trouble Ron Paul can expect as a GOP primary candidate in 2008's presidential cycle: Right-wing fighter against campus lefties David Horowitz (author, in a previous ideological life, of a huge book excoriating U.S. cold war foreign policy from a leftist perspective, The Free World Colossus ) says in a Frontpagemag interview:
Some of my best friends are libertarians and the greatest intellectual influence on me was Hayek. However, in practical political matters, libertarians tend to live in alternate universe, without regard for the real world consequences of their actions. Ron Paul – the only Libertarian in Congress – is a disgrace. He has waged a war against America’s war on terror, in lockstep with the left, and against the state of Israel, the frontline democracy in this war.

live blogging from gop debate: Ron Paul

[05.03.2007 20:14:47] Ron Paul acting like a goddamn conservative. Hey, maybe we shouldn't invade everyone and mind our own goddamn business. But he's all shouty too. Guys, stop yelling.

[05.03.2007 20:37:38] Ron Paul shouts some more about Soviets.

[05.03.2007 21:01:38] Stem cells, shall we save reanimate Ron's corpse and fix his fucked up brain.

[05.03.2007 21:08:12] Paul: Get rid of Income Tax, then the Inflation tax (which is not a tax) okay.

[05.03.2007 21:13:26] Ron "Les" Paul trusts the Internet. WOW he is a fool.

[05.03.2007 21:22:25] They keep calling Ron Paul "Dr. Paul". He is an M.D. but usually the highest rank is what you get, apparently M.D. outranks a Congressman. Go figure.

Anyway I am back. Let's see, I have a conspiracy KooK game going on over at Mike's America. I think Real Annoyance will do well at this

OK now we've moved into "mock the conspiracy theory kooks".

You get 5 points for your standard conspiracy kook story. You know, the stories everyone has heard of et al: 9/11 was an inside job etc...

You get 10 points if you come up with a conspiracy kook story that has been mentioned by someone famous like a Presidential candidate, movie star or Network anchor.

You get 50 points if you can prove that Ron Paul isn't a conspiracy kook.

The first person that reaches 50 points gets to comment free on my blog. Now if that's not an incentive I don't know what is. Good luck and may the best kook win.

I still like Rupaul better because she's tall and can sing. Can Ron Paul sing? I can't.

Marie knows what I mean about tall people huh? :-)

Of the big three the winner was definately Romney. McCain started to get back to the straight talk but shot himself in the foot so many times... Giuliani couldnt decide what he supported and what he didn't.

They all agreed on cutting taxes, all but one agreed on the importance of sticking it out in Iraq; and most of the candidates invoked President Ronald Reagan's legacy in trying to sell themselves to voters. Like any of them were a Reagan.

Of all the little guys, if there is a winner, I'd say it was clearly Ron Paul

Most of the candidates don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning the nominations and should be eliminated from future debates.

At some point, possibly by mid-July and definitely by Labor Day, any Democrat or Republican under 10 percent in the polls should be eliminated from their parties’ debates.

All the focus must be on those who have a realistic chance to win the two nominations. They need the time (and attention “debates” provide) to tell us where they want America to be come January 2017, how they will help get us there and their qualifications to do it.

To be honest I wasn't that impressed, although I totally agree with you about Ron Paul. I put him in the same traitor category as Chuck Hagel.

I was also upset with McCain for saying that Bush terribly mismanaged the war and Matthews for being such a biased moderator and asking such stupid questions.
