FRED THOMPSON ALMOST IN

!!.RUN FRED RUN.!!

Fred Thompson Starts Campaign Effort

Former Sen. Fred Thompson has begun assembling the core of a campaign team in preparation for a possible run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.

While the "Law & Order” actor has not decided whether he will run or not, "he is getting more serious every day,” an adviser told The Politico.

"He is now starting to talk to people to really calibrate what it would take to run a successful campaign. He’s talking to some of the top unaligned strategists and fund-raisers.”

Thompson – who did not seek re-election as a senator from Tennessee in 2002 – has also met with major Republican players who work for other presidential campaigns, sources told The Politico.

Thompson placed third among Republicans in a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, garnering 12 percent of the vote behind former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Sen. John McCain from Arizona. It was the first Gallup poll taken after Thompson announced on March 11 that he may run for the White House.

Advisers say Thompson has been encouraged by the response at a time when many conservative Republicans are unhappy with the GOP front-runners for 2008.

I hope he throws in soon. We need a strong conservative in the GOP to run. While Tancredo and Hunter fit the Conservative qualifications they do not have the name recognition nor the clout to win. Thompson does and can!

Ken,

I have noticed we never hear a peep out of Tancredo, Hunter, or any Republicans running except Romney, MCcain, or Guliani.

Since those guys seem to be the front runners in this all to early race for the Presidency, we have to keep in mind several things.

McCain I like but he is to Liberal, he takes up with Ted Kennedy and the Liberals on to many issues that's already a NO for me because I loathe Ted Kennedy and Kennedy is WRONG on every issue known to man. But I like McCain there is my first pickle.

Romney is a Mormon, which really doesnt bother me but the fact he is from Liberal Central (Mass) does! There goes the Christian vote, and then there is that look in Romney's eyes like he isnt serious or something I cant put my finger on it but he just isnt for me.

Guliani, I like him in a Crisis situation but when the New York Fire Department refused to back him and said that Ground Zero turned into a "Scoop and Dump" operation, well that lost it for me. I just think alot of people lost it for him over that one. And he is from NY, another Liberal Central state, he flip flops, but I still like him, just not for President.

Hunter and Tancredo you never hear a peep out of so how are we suppose to get to know them? They fit the bill, but I dont know a whole lot about them.

Now Fred Thompson on the other hand as you said does have Name recognition and if you watch the video he has all the qualities I like, and believes the way I believe, and he is more Reaganesque than anyone I have seen so far. He is fiscaly Conservative, what you see is what you get, he is no-nonsense, and pro-defense, I just like him. And he looks serious and Presidential.

The more I get to know Thompson the better he looks to me :-)

Who would fit your qualities for President?

Do you have anyone in mind?

The ONLY true Conservative. You probably disagree with his war stance but listen to him on the other issues.

He's also going to be on Lou Dobbs Monday the 16th.

Anon,

Well Ron Paul looks like a nice enough fellow, but he cant win diddly squat!!

I dont want anyone on there who is going to take away votes from someone who can actually win the damn election!!

However he looks like a nice fellow.

That must be where we differ. See, I consider a vote wasted when it goes towards someone who isn't a real conservative and only has a "R" next to their name. I can also sleep at night b/c I know I did the right thing by voting for the best man for the job whether he wins or not.

You say he won't win and the only reason that might be so is b/c, like Tancredo, Paul is a threat to the pimps in both parties. He's not going to bend to lobbies like the other candidates. The establishment is terrified of him. He'll actually cut the Federal government down to a tiny size and give states back their rightful authority. ALL our boys and girls overseas would be at home and with their families protected the country here and securing our borders (which NO other candidate besides Tancredo) is going to do.
