Senator Boxer Attack's Secretary Rice For Being "Childless"

Secretary Rice Attacked By Senator Boxer For being "Childless"

Is it not outrageous that Senator Barbara Boxer (Dem, Cal) verbally attacked Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for not having children as Rice appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday to discuss the Administrations position on Bush’s Iraq military “surge” plans? Is this an acceptable criticism of a political official? Is the fact that an official might not have children reason to doubt their capacity for policy making or ability to advise an administration?

Is this the Democrat’s new era of niceness, their less rancorous way of governing?

WHITE HOUSE BLASTS BOXER

WASHINGTON — The White House fired back Friday at Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer's verbal slap at Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, calling the California Democrat's caustic comments about Rice's family life "outrageous."

Dr Rice is my favorite person in the Bush administration. I am very angry about this marie and I think I conatined my ultimate anger against Boxer fairly well over at my place. I have a lot of thingsa in common with Dr Rice such as persuing a career path because I have never been able to find that someone special to settle down with. Dr Rice far outclasses me with her intelligence but I admire her very much.

We are about the same age and she has overcome so much to get where she is today. Women like Barbara Boxer are jealous of Dr Rice because like Hillary Clinton they have ridden the coattails of Bill Clinton to attain their offices

*(Boxer's daughter married into the Clinton clan through a Rodham at a White House ceremony).

Dr Rice has gotten to the top strictly on her own merits. Condoleezza Rice is a very amazing woman and I support her and condem people like Boxer and Clinton for being nothing more than tagalong, attckdog wannabees

After the president finally acknowledged mistakes, I guess the window for plain talk slammed shut. Condi Rice, on the Hill, refused to acknowledge that 20,000 more troops is an escalation. It was, she insisted, an "augmentation."

Source: http://tinyurl.com/yj9ovx

I watched Dr. Rice further argue that the additional 20,000 troops is NOT an increase, but rather an augmentation.

WordNet - Cite This Source augmentation

noun
1. the amount by which something increases
2. the statement of a theme in notes of greater duration (usually twice the length of the original) [ant: diminution]
3. the act of augmenting

Dear Dr. Rice,

When women get a breast augmentation, it INCREASES the size of their breasts, right? So why do you say that the additional troops are an augmentation and not an increase?

Oh, I know how she does it. She's brilliant, that's how. And she got where she is all by herself. Okay. Got it.

So no one can DARE criticize the brilliant Dr. Rice, 'cause she got to be Secretary of State all on her own.

I guess she and Bill Clinton share a lot. See, Bill Clinton got to be president all on his own, too. Therefore, no one should have criticized his blunders, either.

There's your logic.

In case you haven't noticed Mrs. Green, even though Clinton was said to be the first black president he was neither black nor a woman. They are the very people that you people said cannot make it on their own without special help.

Dr Rice has overcome all those things and that pisses people like Barabra Boxer and Hillary Clinton off because they think they are deserving of the title of smartest and most powerful woman in the country but they are far from it.

Count again Mrs Green, at one time we had close to 180-200 thousand troops in Iraq. Redeployment of troops and tactical changes does not mean esclation in any military book I've ever read.

That's what really gets me is all these armchair generals like Barbara Boxer telling Condi she can't feel what it's like to lose a son or daughter but what Boxer cannot understand is these people fighting dying for us are our fellow countrymen and liberals of Boxer's ilk do not know what that means. They only understand political expediency and soundbite politics have no feeling for those brave people because they have no idea of what patriotism really means.

I admire Dr Rice myself she is one of my favorites too.

You did quite well containing your anger over this.

There is nothing wrong with NOT finding that special someone, alot of people are "Childless" and are quite happy and career oriented. Yourself included.

That to me is a woman's choice if she want's children or not, and those that dont should NOT be condemned for thier choice.

I think the Boxer hit was a very cheap shot and a low blow, and we can expect more of this for the next 2 years!

And you can expect me and you to point this kind of crap out for the world to see.

Mrs Green,

When the people on the left refer back to Clinton all the time (As if he was God or something) he then becomes fair game for criticism!

And most of us Republicans or at least (Me) have not forgotten all the shots that have been launched at our current Preisent over the last 6 friggen years. AND STILL CONTINUE TODAY!!

Nope you wont see me sitting still for ANY of this malarki!

If this is the treatment she gets from a California feminist, imagine how it will go for Dr. Rice when she's sitting across the table from former Imperial Grand Weasel, Senator Robert KKK Byrd, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and third in the line of Presidential succession.
It's only a matter of time before we start hearing the N-word on C-SPAN.

Were you and your friends outraged when Laura Bush, in an interview in December in PEOPLE Magazine said:

"Dr. Rice, who I think would be a really good candidate (for President), is not interested. Probably because she is single, her parents are no longer living, she's an only child. You need a very supportive family and supportive friends to have this job."

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/

Mrs. Bush implies that Dr. Rice couldn't be president because she needs a family (Husband???children?????) in order to be one.

And what do you make of the implication that Dr. Rice has no friends?--because, as Mrs. Bush said, "one needs supportive friends to have this job."

Doesn't Laura Bush think Dr. Rice has friends?

Wow! What a horrid, horrid thing to say of Dr. Rice!!! She couldn't be president cause she has no family or friends.

Sounds to me Barbara Boxer was getting her signals from Laura Bush!!!!

But in your world Barbara=bitch, Laura=nice.

Little inconsistency there?

Oh THERE is Mrs. Mean.

Yes Marie, she's your angry moonbat. You keep her. I've got my own and I keep the cage door locked so they don't get out and bother the neighbors.

I would think Mrs. Mean would be first in line to condemn the attacks on Secretary of State Rice who has faced every bit of slime from her "childlessness" (with all the dark subtexts that implies)to being Aunt Jemima to George Bush's parrot.

Wouldn't you expect Mrs. Mean to defend this accomplished, talented, creative woman, regardless of her race, marital or maternal state?

Well apparently, like just about everything else in libbo land, if you stray off the libbo plantation, you don't count as a human being.

How dare that uppity black Dr. Rice become a Republican!

Didn't she know any better that she was supposed to amount to nothing more than a tool for race baiters in the Democrat Party to exploit?

Why next thing we know she'll be a role model for other black women from Selma and other parts down south who want to amount to something instead of playing a victim all their lives.

Can't have that now can we Mrs. Mean?

Mrs. Green,

I have a question.

If everyone in your party and mine feel the same way about this war, and dont support the President, and are fed up, (As you say), and "The Grown Ups Are In Charge Now", then why do I not see thousands upon thousands of people in the streets protesting against him and his policy's?

I have yet to see that.

Marie, I actually am disturbed by the use of that photo. I resort to juveniles stuff on my blog all the time; but seeing that photo just reminds me of all the hate-spew at the leftie sites; I associate pictures like that with them. But it's your blog; I just thought I'd give my two cents on it.

That being said, Boxer is a frickin' ****.

Mrs Green,

There is a war of language going on; anti-war liberals insist that they and the media use the term, "escalation", because it conjures up Vietnam, in which that word was in use. They want to make this into another Vietnam, and see "surge" as Orwellian Rovespeak to make the troop increase more appealing, by virtue of euphemism.

Hold on. That last post of mine sounds bitchy. I don't want to sound like that here on Marie's blog.

She's been a good and decent person for allowing me to come here and post my opinions, which are the antithesis of most who come here.

Having said that, I do reaffirm my opinion that Mr. Bush and his administration have been wrong in their war on terrorism. We can agree to disagree on this.

I go to Mike's America and all I get is Mike calling me names.

At least here, I get Marie's honest and strong disagreement with me. She's true to her beliefs, but she doesn't call me names. She's always been a worthy opponent.

Actually, it doesn't matter what the polls say. I agree. But I strongly believe that Mr. Bush has made egregious mistakes in his war on terror, and that Ms. Rice has been ineffectual as Secretary of State. That does not mean I think she's dumb. She is not. But neither do I think that Albert Einstein would have made a great Secretary of State. Ms. Rice was probably very good in her job in academia. But a disaster in Bush's administration--my opinion.

Marie, I don't mind your crapping all over my opinion. But Mike, do me a favor and crap on me on your own blog, okay?

Oh, and JG, you're a smart person, too. So have at me and give me all you got.

Lol...uh, tell her I said "good job".

Even life-long conservatives have fled from Mr. Bush.

I've flocked to him; 9/11 (and folks on the left like you) made me a brand-new conservative voter.

Mrs. Green,

What is it with your constant obsessing with opinion polls and "world opinion" to justify who's right and who's wrong?

If the rest of the world hates us, that's a problem they need to fix within themselves. They hates us during the Clinton years as well.

When has "world opinion" ever lifted a finger to prevent horrific suffering in the world?

I agree with Dennis Prager when he wrote:

"World opinion" has little or nothing to say about the world's greatest evils and regularly condemns those who fight evil.

The history of "world opinion" regarding the greatest mass murders and cruelties on the planet is one of relentless apathy.

Ask the 1.5 million Armenians massacred by the Ottoman Turks;

or the 6 million Ukrainians slaughtered by Stalin;

or the tens of millions of other Soviet citizens killed by Stalin's Soviet Union;

or the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis and their helpers throughout Europe;

or the 60 million Chinese butchered by Mao;

or the 2 million Cambodians murdered by Pol Pot;

or the millions killed and enslaved in Sudan;

or the Tutsis murdered in Rwanda's genocide;

or the millions starved to death and enslaved in North Korea;

or the million Tibetans killed by the Chinese;

or the million-plus Afghans put to death by Brezhnev's Soviet Union.

Ask any of these poor souls, or the hundreds of millions of others slaughtered, tortured, raped and enslaved in the last 100 years, if "world opinion" did anything for them.

On the other hand, we learn that "world opinion" is quite exercised over Israel's unintentional killing of a few hundred Lebanese civilians behind whom hides Hezbollah -- a terror group that intentionally sends missiles at Israeli cities and whose announced goals are the annihilation of Israel and the Islamicization of Lebanon. And, of course, "world opinion" was just livid at American abuses of some Iraqi prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad. In fact, "world opinion" is constantly upset with America and Israel, two of the most decent countries on earth, yet silent about the world's cruelest countries.

Hold on. That last post of mine sounds bitchy. I don't want to sound like that here on Marie's blog.

Lol...if that's the case, I think 90% of your posts should be rescinded.

I do think it's great, too, that Marie allows for dissenting opinions like yours to leave comments.

It's nice of you to acknowledge that.

I go to Mike's America and all I get is Mike calling me names.

Haha...don't take it personally. he does that to everyone....he disagrees with....at least the ones he thinks are on the nutfringe.

Actually, it doesn't matter what the polls say. I agree. But I strongly believe that Mr. Bush has made egregious mistakes in his war on terror, and that Ms. Rice has been ineffectual as Secretary of State. That does not mean I think she's dumb. She is not. I disagree with your opinion; but you said it in such a civil way just now, I will just respectfully disagree and leave it at that.

My goodness, Wordsmith from Nantucket, we can be civil, can't we.

I just dislike the way political discourse has descended into name-calling and hate speech. I may have engaged in it myself, but I've made a resolution to stop that and to try to engage those with whom I disagree in civil discourse.

That is all.

PS. I lived on Cape Cod for a number of years. I'm assuming from your name that your are on that beautiful island off the Cape...

Wow! A conservative on Nantucket? Really?

I thought only starry-eyed, knee-jeck liberals lived there.

Mrs, Green, With a post such as the Condoleezza Rice now holds as Secretary of State there is no way to tell how well of job she is doing. The things she deals with is setting a tone for relations with other countries. Only history will be able to tell us whether Dr Rice has done a good job as a diplomat representing the interests of her country. When we look back to past Secretaries I am reminded of the debacle of Madelene Albright and the ineffectualness of her diplomatic mission after all if she would have been effective then we would not have been forced to react to 9/11 attacks hatched in Afghanistan and and we would not have used precious resources to get into the middle of a European concerned civil war in the Balkans.They are the kind of things that history teaches us.
