I remember when my son was little, he collected a bunch of common garden spiders in a glass jar with holes punched in the cover and brought them into the house. I didn't want to pass my phobia on to him so I acted as though I were delighted to have the horrid things in his room.

The next day or so, I went into his room while he was in school and saw the spidery jar. All the spiders were dead and the jar was full of egg sacs. Apparently, they were females, and because they were crammed together (they're normally solitary creatures), they died, but not before making sure the next generation would go on. (This is what someone told me.)

I can tolerate the common garden spider. But that's it. I could never watch what night rider posted.

Now snakes are different. I have no irrational fear of them. Respect? Yes. I wouldn't pick up any ole snake, but I don't go mental when I see one.; January 09, 2007 12:54 PM

I truly dont like varment's much, especially since we have so many here in Okieville!

As for snakes, I dont mind them to much but we have those varment's in the damn water, there is nothing like sitting at the lake fishing, with your feet in the water, and having something brush up against your toes and wonder "Was that a Cottonmouth"? I'm not to fond of water critters!
