Perfect Marie!
As I commented on Gayle's site, I remember seeing this on TV as a child.
Todays Holleweird loons need to take note. Skelton, John Wayne and others like them who were great performers and patriots as well. Who wore their patriotism with pride and never shriked from using their fame to share their love of country.
How many of todays anti American Hollywierd loons will be remembered forty years from now and still be thought of with fond memeories ?
Like I posted on Dragon Lady's Den's blog
I've see this 100 times and it still puts Goose bumps on my arms.
This was too cool to pass up.
And that Bob Hope one is hillarious :-)
I never missed a Skelton show until he walked off the air. And Bob Hope was THE MAN! We will never have people like that on TV or the movies again.
I just watched the Pledge video again. I have to put this on UCV. I get chills watching it. I'm so glad its on youtube.
These are the people that shaped my opinions when I was a child. We never missed Red Skeleton or Ed Sullivan. Bob Hope was a respected name in my parents working class Democrat household. I found myself reciting the Pledge of Allegiance with Red again as he said it.
The liberals like Obama may try and tear this country apart with their anti American rhetoric and hate America first attitude but red, white and blue flows through the veins of this American girl. I have served my country and I am still willing to die to defend it from all enemies both foreign and domestic just as I swore I would.
I saw this at Gayle's too and loved it too. Your right, the Bob Hope one was a classic too!
It takes two clowns to point to the truth.
I've seen and read the Red Skelton Pledge many times. I remember seeing the Bob Hope movie after school on TV when we only had three channels. "Ghost Breakers" was made in 1940 starring Hope and Paulette Goddard. She inherited a haunted house in Cuba and Bob had to hide out real fast. It's a cute film.
Comparing Democrats to zombies is a bit unfair to zombies, though.
Cargosquid,
There werent many channels on tv when I was a kid, and my parents watched all that stuff, Red Skelton, Laugh In, The Frank Sinatra Roasts, Bob Hope (Who is my hero) etc.. That brought back memories. As a matter of fact I can still hear Bob Hope singing "Thank's For The Memories"
Jenn,
You are a great American GF!
CC-Jenn lol,
These are great arent they?
Indigo,
