To all those who have given the Ulimate Sacrifice for our Country, I remember you.

Just remembering if it wasnt for you, we wouldnt be having our BBQ's and event's this Holiday weekend.

I dont want to damper anyone's spirits, I would just like to take this time to reflect on our Freedoms and Celebrate the lives of those who fought for our right to have them :-)

I don't want to put a damper on anyone's "holiday" either. But it irks me when I open up the Los Angeles Times and Macy's two page spread ad is about weekend Memorial Day sales. It's just a bit classless, I think. They'd do more for business, I think, if their ad had a mention even peripherally to honoring our fallen warriors, as a reminder of what this weekend is for.

Word,

I know exactly what you mean.

Classless indeed.

It get's to you when you hear all this "Official beginning of summer" and all that.

It would be nice if Macy's would mention something like "Remembering our fallen, we are having a special 2 day sale" or something that isnt tastless or tactless.

It would just be nice to have our Fallen remembered, and a reminder thrown out there that had it not been for them, Macy's wouldnt be having a special 2 day sale, or we all wouldnt be able to have our BBQ's, or something.

Just a mention is all.

Thanks for the Memorial Day wish. Used to decorate my bike spokes with red, white, blue streamers. Ah, childhood.

Looking good over here Marie, I like the new flag it looks nice.

Today I was flying my Dad's 49 star flag that was our family flag for years. I haven't had that one out for years because it's cotton but it still looks good for it's age.

It's not that we didn't recognize Hawaii and it wasn't like Dad couldn't afford a new flag but it was just something special that he bought in 1959 when they made Alaska a state. It's not much of a collectors item it just has special meaning to me.

I was just over at Mike's and he's got some kid over there coming out of the army with big chip on shoulder. It's a shame but what can you do. I have found that some come out with a chip like that because of circumstances that happen during a war, it happens in every war. War is hell and you can't expect everyone that comes home from one to pleased with the way things go. I wasn't always pleased with the Navy, they did some pretty dumb stuff that pissed me off but I got over it and figured it out; that's just the way things go. Heck, the first four years I served were under Carter and if that wasn't enough to discourage anyone i don't know what is.
