Former US president Clinton urges coordinated aid effort for south Asia

LONDON (AFP) - Former US president Bill Clinton urged a coordinated effort to provide relief to the countries stricken by the tidal wave that killed tens of thousands across South Asia.
"It is really important that somebody take the lead in this," he told BBC Radio 4's Today program.
"I think one of the problems is when everybody takes responsibility it's almost like no one's responsibility."
Clinton said individual countries should target aid at specific areas.
"Maybe what we should do is get countries or groups of countries to take responsibility for specific countries that were hurt," he said.
"I think if you did that you would have a better chance of seeing responsibilities fulfilled even when the emotional tug wanes."
The United Nations (news - web sites) on Monday said that the biggest disaster relief operation ever staged would be needed for the Asian tsunami (sea surge) victims as medicines and other emergency supplies started pouring into the worst-hit areas.
UN disaster relief coordinator Jan Egeland said the cost of the devastation will be in the "billions of dollars.

Can someone please tell BillyBob "HE ISNT THE PRESIDENT ANYMORE"!!!!!!!!
And PRESIDENT BUSH already has a coordinated aid effort going on with several other countries.
What is it going to take to make the Liberals realize they are OUT!!!
Now I'm sure if PRESIDENT BUSH asks BillyBob to aid in some way he may get involved, but until he does, BillyBob needs to keep his comments to himself.

Hey Marie, Bubba has to keep the Clinton name in the news some how. He thinks he may have a chance to be first Bubba with Broom Hillary running for President. Let us hope the Man Of The Year never asks Bubba to get involved with anything.
And when listening to Bushie, Bush Sr and Clinton, Clinton is the only one who sounds sensible and compassionate about the whole thing. Bush Sr has become an attack dog for his son. Clinton is doing Bush a big favor brings his cache to the endeavor.
Hey Moron,
I have been sick or I would have replied sooner, actually that's not completely true I usually dont reply to Moron's who dont use a name. But nevertheless, yes I see that Our commander-in-chief called upon 2 former President's to help get disaster relief efforts on the homefront going on a good footing, after Clinton decided to stick his big nose in it, I would have asked him to do something for it or about it also.
I was hoping Bush would. And I am glad he did. If one speaks, one should get involved. Well BillyBob spoke, and Bush took him up on it. Good for Our President! Now between BillyBob and Bush Sr. maybe they together can make sure the donations, and the relief effort money will get spent on what it is suppose to get spent on seeing as this is going to have to go through that waste of real estate organization a/k/a the UN and not get swindled, and spread around like the Oil for Food Program money.
Why dont we just go all the way and say "President Bush CAUSED the Tsunami"? I'm sure there is some lunatic out there that will think there was a planned earth quake, and then a devistating Tsunami caused by President Bush. You people are truly nuts! Maybe you need more therapy.
